VF in Chicago Rumor VF in Chicago Rumor VF in Seattle To Mike From Mike A Story RE: Pet Names Sabrina RE: South Park RE: South Park I Held Her In My Arms I Held Her in My Arms American Music ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Note From Pat. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I hope everyone's holiday went well. All the guests have left my house, and the husband goes back to work today. In a week, the boys will start school, and everything will be sane again. Thank you all for being so patient. Due to the fact that it's been a week or so since I've posted an issue, I have a lot of submissions here, so I am not printing a buy/sell/trade today. It will run as scheduled next Monday. If anyone has a burning desire to see it before then, write to me and I'll send it to you. As you can see, the Official Homepage finally came through with some tour dates. LOTS OF 'EM. If anyone hears of any others, please let me know so I can tell everyone else. I'm especially concerned about Friday, January 30. There's nothing listed so far, and it seems odd not to have a weekend tourdate. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ VF in Chicago Rumor ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The rumor I heard about Violent Femmes in Chicago was that Dennis Rodman was having a New Year's Eve Party at the Field Museum here in chicago and Violent femmes and some other bands were playing. Also, i heard tickets were around ninety dollars... eek! Just letting you know.. but i haven't heard any confirmation of it on the radio yet, just friends letting me know about it... -darren - ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ VF in Chicago Rumor ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Hey Pat, they are supposed to play on New Years eve at the Natural History museum in Chicago, but its a 21 and over show and the ticket i think is like 95 dollars, but includes a four hour open bar and you get to roam around the museum. i think the time is from 9pm-3am but don't quote me on that. There is also another band there too. Q101 in chicago is doing it i think, that is where the commercial for the concert is running. Just thought you might want to know if you don't yet. - -Pat. says: Anyone interested in this show should go to http://www.Q101.com That'll tell you just about everything you'll want to know. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ VF in Seattle ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This is for BEEFSTEW>>.or BRIAN.... The Femmes Played in Seattle 3 years ago..... they played portland first and then played 2 nights in a row in seattle...... it was wonderful as always....i hung out with them first in portland and gordon asked if id be there in seattle and i told him i had no tickets ...so he asked how many i needed...and i went to seattle next day...and there were 3 tickets and backstage passes for me... we took lots of pictures and hung out again...they are absolutely wonderful ..i cant wait till february....... but anyways...you missed some great shows....pay more attention;)~ -Pat. Says: Before I got web access I never heard about VF shows. Nobody in my town advertised them. If it weren't for this medium, I would have missed every single show I attended last year except the Bloomsburg show. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ To Mike From Mike ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This is Mike and can the guy named Mike from Frt Lauderdale email me please Remember, you wanted a copy of the FAU show. Your email was something like But i am not sure, just email me back at -Mike - ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ A Story ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Ok. So, I wuz wondering if I wuz ever going to get a Femmes story to tell. Here we go! My last day of school before I took off for the lovely state of Florida I wore my Violent Femmes shirt. I have a tendency to wear it with black combat boots and a pair or dark blue jeans that are just a few sizes too big (about 4). I was in Economics and my teacher asked me if the places listed on the back of my Violent Femmes shirt (it's a concert shirt..friend bought it for me) were places where violent women had rebelled. Myself and at least 5 other people laughed to the point of tears. I told her between gasps, "Mrs Robinson, this is the name of my favorite band. On back are places they stopped on their tour." As soon as I mentioned Blister in the Sun, about 3 other people (that's close to my whole class now) started giggling too bcuz they realized her mistake. It made me smile for the rest of the day...hehe I'm 18 (b-day on december 20!! got my tongue pierced for it :) ) and I live in Greensboro, NC. I seem to notice a lack of Florida subscribers.. I'm in Daytona Beach, FL at this moment... - ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ RE: Pet Names ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ this isn't really a pet name used by anyone i know, but some of the other posts (particularly the Violet Phlegms one) reminded me of this: i was hanging around a while back and a friend and i were talking about music. there was also this third guy who isn't really into music of any type. anyway, i mentioned violent femmes to my friend and the third guy, who wasn't really paying attention anyway, said "huh? there's a band called the Vinyl Pimps?" (no, randy, i said "Violent Femmes"). anyway, i thought the Vinyl Pimps was a somewhat cool misunderstanding. "No, I gotta go." ---- ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Sabrina ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Hey, just wanted to ask where in "Sabrina..." the Femmes were. I specially taped the two episodes - but didn't see them anywhere. Maybe I'm blind.....Could someone please tell me where they were??? I still have it on tape - so I'll still be able to watch it again. Thanks. PS. Thanks to all those people who responded to my question about which album to buy next - I've asked for both "Why do Birds Sing?" and "Violent Femmes" for Christmas ....hopefully I'll be getting them...... - Joanna -Pat. Says: The Violent Femmes were on the first episode that night. They only have small parts, the last 10 minutes or so of that show. First they're signing autographs in a record store, then they're in their hotel room. I myself found it extremely painful to watch, but I'm sure most of you already know that. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ RE: South Park ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ In response to the thing about South Park, I think he was singing a part of the Henry the 8th song, which is where the lyric originated(or at least that was what I was told). Emma ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ RE: South Park ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ first for the who is where thing? I am in College Park, MD (don't know if you want to put that with DC or baltimore or by iteself) second in response to southpark cartoon: Kyle was singing "I had a little dreidel" I cracked up after the second verse same as the first, but it would have been better if they sang it twice so they could have said third verse same as the first. Heidy hi - ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I Held Her In My Arms ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Beky and Pat, I saw the Femmes in Chicago in the summer of 1991. Can't remember who opened. I want to think it was Louden Wainright III, but I know that's not right. Grant Lee Buffalo? Nah. Someone influenced by the Modern Lovers and Bob Dylan. (okay, that doesn't narrow it does it? :) ) John Wesley Harding? Anyone who saw them during that tour will remember. The opener was just himself, a small band, and a little uke he played through a distortion machine. When he came out to join the femmes during their set, he said Gordon let him pick the number, and he decided on I held her in my arms because that was his favorite song. He played Harmonica while Gordon sang. It was brilliant. That's the only time I've seen them play it. Matt ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I Held Her in My Arms ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The Femmes have played "I Held Her In My Arms" nearly every time I have seen them live. Have no fear Beky. -- Yrs Truly, Jack (who lives in West Bend, WI) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ American Music ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ In a message dated 12/18/97 3:33:29 PM, you wrote: <> Just wondering, I have never heard them sing that background vocal live. Has anyone? -Pat. Says: Not me. Maybe they don't do it because they don't have enough voices to build all the harmonies. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
