Here 'tis : Didgereedo Blues Out the Window I-M-N-O-T-H-I-N (yeah!! hadn't heard this one live before) Blister American Music (best version I've ever heard - Gano was possesed!) 36-24-36 Breakin Hearts Kiss Off Bad (new song- see note below) Prove My Love Color Me Once Mother Reagan Rejoice (new song - see note below) Black Girls Gone Daddy Gone And of course ... Add it Up Note about *Bad* - they've played this one at all 4 shows I've seen this year - I liked it the first time I heard it but the more I hear it the more I get into the lyrics. In Birmingham right before they played it Gano said, "I always enjoy playing in the south because you guys know your Bible down here. You may not choose to follow it but you know it very well." Then before the last verse he said something to the effect that those of us who "really" knew our Bible might recognize a few things in that verse. I haven't figured out exactly what he meant yet but I'm working on it... Note about "Rejoice"- only heard this one In Charlotte and Knoxville last weekend. Both times Gano seemed to have to get set on the tempo with Guy before starting. Don't know if that's because this one's so new or if they were just covering it for the weekend. Gano didn't say anything except , "In case the words go by too fast, this one's a gospel tune." Sorry if I've bored anyone with my ramblings... I think I'm finally coming down from last weekend and becoming a little philosophical in my old age! Deana ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ RE: My Car Hates the Violent Femmes ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This is just a note to Amberlace to let her know she's not alone!!! I made the trip to Mountainview to see the show this last time and my car just stopped as I was on my way back to Reno!!! I was chuggin' away up the mountain, until...**pop!** My transmission fluid evaporated and my car just would not move!!! I think maybe it's an epidemic or some such plague??? Anyhow, just wanted to let you know that I can empathize...was just truly grateful that it happened after the show!!! And as for musical tastes, I currently have no V.F. in my CD player...sorry can't play 'em all the time...but I do have the Academy Award winning Best Songs Collection from 1934-1944, and Metallica's Load, and Paul Simon's Graceland, a Candlebox CD, and Tourniquet...(a Christian rock band)...so goes diversity of musical taste, eh guys? Glad to know we all have similar ecclectic appetites!!! Adios, amoebas! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Songs Left Unsung ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Deana wrote: >But I think I read somewhere (hompage >maybe) that they made up Life in the studio and have been unable to >repeat the elements or have forgotten it so they will never play it >live. just as an addition to that, i think i remember reading/hearing Gordon interviewed about why "Tonight" (ROCK!!!!!) is not played in concert, and i seem to recall the response being something like that they were so wasted when they wrote most of the ROCK!!!!! album that they can't remember it. whether that's a lie or not i don't know, but i think "Life" and "Tonight" would both be great live. rob=) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Blister Video ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I have seen the VIDEO! It's for Blister in the Sun. (Not 2000. My boyfriend swears that it's for 2000, but I was possitive that it wasn't. He says that's fine, I'm the Femmes fan.) But here's where I think I'm confused, would they actually make a new video for and older song? Through it Gordan is stalking this famous cat. At one point he's dressed as a cat. (So I can understand why he doesn't like it.) It also has scenes from Grosse Point Blank, but that still doesn't mean that it's 2000, because both are on the soundtrack. See I would of went with just plain BITS, but NO, he had to come in and ruin everything. Oh well, I have seen the video, and I am pretty sure I've told you the truth. (I'm such an ass.) Luv, Kendra - ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ RE: Chat Rooms ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Hey there! I just wanted to say that I'm really trying to get in touch with people on #violentfemmes on IRC. So KarlitoX and everyone else, be online.... Erik(Scubba) - ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Easy to Find Rock ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ just thought i would let everyone know that the exclusive company in green bay, WI sells ROCK!!!! for only 11.99....that's where i got it anyway....later keri - ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Hard to Find Rock ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Just to add to the stories of the plight of VF fans trying to find ROCK! I found it in Dublin, Ireland by accident at a Tower Records. As far as the US goes, I look at most every record store I go to, and never have seen any sign of it or Debacle. To go along with that fact, I've never saw any press coverage of ROCK! i.e. Rolling Stone or Alternative Press. If there ever was a review and I missed it, please let me know. Jason - ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Is It Hard For You? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Well, I guess I am lucky then huh?? I had no idea that ROCK was so hard to get a hold of. I wondered why no one seemed to know any of the songs off ROCK at the Filmore concert. If any of you want a cassette copy, I'll make you one. It really is a great record. I also know that you could get it at the same place I got mine. I got to looking at the liner notes as well and I noticed that "Sweet World of Angels" was written by Gordon in 1978!! humdrum - ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ It's Very Hard For Me ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ > Why does everyone keep saying that "ROCK" is an import?? I bought it > at my local record store the week it came out and it was made right > here in the US?? > I live in Southern CA and looked in several record stores but could not find "ROCK". I special ordered it from a local store who checked & said they could get it. I put my deposit down (price was $26) and I had to call them 2 months later to find out they couldn't get it. Another local store I checked could get it for $50! Finally Virgin Megastore in Burbank ordered it and ANOTHER 2 MONTHS later they called-finally a good deal at $15.99. If Interscope Records releases this as an American record, we would not have to go on these treasure hunts. This album is 2 years old now, and I for one would like to hear some more new music. The band has stated that they have been in the studio to record since signing 2 years ago, and the record co. does not have a release on the horizon (they are not even on the band list on the web site). If we the fans let them know that we are hungry for more music and more shows, we may just persuade them. If they don't know, I'm sure that they will just maintain the status quo. If you feel this way, please let them know too! You can copy and send the petition below or send your own thoughts on this. -Cheryl - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Interscope Records Phone: 310-208-6547 10900 Wilshire Blvd., Suite 1230 Fax: 310-208-7343 Los Angeles, CA 90024 Tom Whalley, CEO email: [email protected] Re: VIOLENT FEMMES RELEASE! Dear Mr. Whalley & Interscope Records: I am writing to petition a new release of VIOLENT FEMMES music. As an avid fan of this band and its members, I feel that their body of work is worth continuing development and growth. It appeals to their original fans as well as a large number of new fans alike. I would purchase new music by the Violent Femmes and would buy tickets to attend more shows, if they were available in my area. As well, I would like to have "ROCK", the import CD available to me in U.S. stores. Please release more of this great band to the fans. Thank you for your attention. -Friends of the Femmes ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
