So if any kind soul would do that, it would be greatly appreciated. -Pat. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Ride Offered to ESU ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I'm planning on making the trip and if anyone wants to come along, get in touch with me via email or phone (540)645-6330. My car seats five so there are only four other spots. I've already invited three people and they get priority but I haven't heard back from anyone yet. Also, is there anyone going to the show from this list that lives really close to ES that would let us crash on their living room floor after the show if need be? Does anyone want to plan on meeting up before the show. Should we all wear geeky nametags in the shape of a star? :) Thanks for everything! Love---amber -Pat. says: At the Newport show, I saw people from the Joan Baez list wearing t-shirts which had the mailing list address printed on them. I thought that was a good idea. If any of you want to pin stars on your shirts, go right ahead. I myself have a very specific reason for refusing to wear a star on my clothes, and I think some of you may understand what that reason is. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ FAU Info Needed ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I called FAU's music and events line and they said they do not have anyone for NOV 10 and they do not have the Violent Femmes caoming to play at all. If anyone has any relative info, please let me know. Thanks MIKE - FT. Lauderdale ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ RE: Charlotte and Knoxville ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Amber wrote: <> We MUST have seen each other if we were both up front both nights! What side of the stage do you like? I enjoyed the Knoxville show more and it seemed the guys had more fun (they were smiling more and laughing.) However I thought Dr. Chadbourne's presence in Charlotte was AUSOME! I wish they could have played the Charlotte show in front of the Knoxville crowd! BTW how about Guy accidentally starting on Black Girls and then not even missing a beat when he realized he was playing the wrong thing AND did you catch Gordon's wee error on GoneDaddyGone? I loved both of these little gaffs - they're human after all!! Also I was extremely impressed that everyone around me in Knoxville sang along to almost every song except Bad (new song) Rejoice (new song) and Breakin' Hearts! Did you notice that too or was I just in a pocket of VF fans? Jesse wrote: <> Yes that would be a GREAT encore! But I think I read somewhere (hompage maybe) that they made up Life in the studio and have been unable to repeat the elements or have forgotten it so they will never play it live. Sad :o( I'm still jealous of Pat and Kyle for the folkfest show they saw. I'm longing for a show with an extended set of, shall we say, "obscure" Femmes music. And it seems that show had a little of that! I'm talking about Island Life, Make More Money, Tonite, Jesus Walking on the Water etc. Anyone with a lot of free time? Email me your Ultimate VF set list and we will compare! Amber wrote: <> I was hacked about this as well as embarassed (since Knoxville is my home town). BR said that it was because Widespread Panic had already booked the show when the Femmes signed on the bill. He said, "Of course VF should ALWAYS headline (with little grin on his face) but these things sometimes happen." Oh my - I think I'm going to faint just remembering the glitter of those tiny silver earrings! What a weekend! Deana ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ RE: MountainView Show ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Hi y'all! Wow, Amber, sounds like you had quite a night! *pout* Wish I could have gone to the show out here! I have a friend who went, he said they were awesome (duh!). Also, why would Smashmouth even play the same show as Our Femmes? Smashmouth is horrid punk, and I was actually dumb enough to buy their CD, which blows except for the single. Maybe the Femmes could cover Walkin' on the Sun... just an idea... Claire ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ RE: Please Come to the East Coast ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ its regards to "please come to the east coast" i totally agree but more of the poughkeepsie ny area (it's 1 1/2 hours above the city for anyone that wanted to know) 18 and over is fine (im 18) but i would love to see the femmes i never hear about them being around here, they were in the city last year but i had to work and couldnt get down there. so any info on concerts around me would be appreciated! Thanks, Jill ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ RE:New Album Info Needed ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ > Pat, I need Info on the next album the Femmes are working on. I cant > find Info anywhere. Please help me!!!!!!!!! Thank you. > Hey there all you Friends of the Femmes. There is no info. anywhere because there is a problem. The Femmes record co., Interscope Records, is not releasing an album anytime soon-the femmes are not even listed on the band list in the web site. The Femmes have had plenty of music written for some time (per the band), but Interscope will not release anything but "big hit" music. They will not even make ROCK available to us in the U.S. We need to let them know that we stand behind our band and want more music, along with more shows. I think this is a great injustice and we, as fans, are the ones who suffer. I have listed the #s and addresses so we can make our opinions known to them. Or if you prefer, I'm also including a petition that you can just forward to them. -Cheryl - Interscope Records Phone: 310-208-6547 10900 Wilshire Blvd., Suite 1230 Fax: 310-208-7343 Los Angeles, CA 90024 Tom Whalley, CEO email: [email protected] Re: VIOLENT FEMMES RELEASE! Dear Mr. Whalley & Interscope Records: I am writing to petition a new release of VIOLENT FEMMES music. As an avid fan of this band and its members, I feel that their body of work is worth continuing development and growth. It appeals to their original fans as well as a large number of new fans alike. I would purchase new music by the Violent Femmes and would buy tickets to attend more shows, if they were available in my area. As well, I would like to have "ROCK", the import CD available to me in U.S. stores. Please release more of this great band to the fans. Thank you for your attention. -Friends of the Femmes ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ RE: VF Videos ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ >friends into going to the Oct. 9th show. Maybe we'll have a new >subscriber after the concert. Hopefully. Also, did anyone catch the >Beavis and Butthead (I was just flipping through, I swear) episode on >Tuesday? The "Breaking Up" video was on it. I new that show was worth >something. > >- > The only femmes video I've seen is Gone Daddy Gone, how many videos do they have?? Nick -Pat. says: I know of American Music, Nightmares, Blister (don't know if it's BITS or Blister 2000, I've heard about it, and know Gordon hates it, but never seen it). I know there's a lot more, anyone want to compile a list? Which reminds me, Kara I know I'm long overdue in sending you that video. I haven't forgotten, it's just that life has a habit of getting in the way! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ RE: Musical Tastes ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "i love the violent femmes, but i strongly like marilyn manson, the bosstones (whose show i'm gonna see nov. 1st), and mary j. blige, pink floyd, and nin. i could listen to all their stuff at minute intervals cuz i like them as artists. it don't matter what kinda music they make, as long as somebody likes it..." - I understand completely. I have the most varied tastes in music in relation to everyone I have ever met. I love the Femmes, but also like the Barenaked Ladies, the Pogues, The Doors, Beatles, Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones, Squirrel Nut Zippers, a lot of SKA, the Dead Milkmen, and the list goes on. You can ask me about almost any band I bet I've heard something of their's. I can listen to a Doors CD then a Dead Milkmen and a VF CD and it doesn't bother me at all. I sink into the rhythm of the music and just mellow out or in some cases get hyped up. I may not agree with some of the lyrics of some band or the message another band sends, but what difference should that make. Just because I like their music doesn't mean that I worship them. - ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Singalong ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ RIGHT ON! now i know i'm not the only person who sings violent femmes to anyone! I was singing 36-24-36 in choir and we were getting measured ((highschool concerts go figure!)) it was crazy THOSE ARE MY MEASURMENTS! awesome or what? I wish i could go to a concert, the last thing i saw was marilyn manson....... seana ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Throwing Undies ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ forgot about this part.... any of the girls ever throw underwear up on stage? I did B4 it wasn't at the V/F but some other band called the vermisious kinids or some thing like that, they were awesome. A bunches of ppl went up to mejiers and bought a 5 pack ((or however many there are in the lil packages)) of different kinds of underwear, we wrote our addresses and names on the and each pick a different kind of underwear, mine were french lace.... anyways we each got letters from the band! they had put the underwear up as a shrine in the basement of the singers house, where they practice ((this is a band that isn't too well know but that's how the suicide machines got started!)) it was awesome we still write back and forth and when ever they play at pharoes ((night club 4 all ages)) we go and throw underwear on stage..... i got my letter first, heeheeheeheee wonder why....... seana -Pat. says: Sorry about this, but my own personal first response to this is EEEWWWWW. I don't think the band appreciates things thrown at them either. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Boots Wanted ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Hey, does anyone have any bootleg tapes of violent femmes shows? i've never heard "Johnny" live...........that'd be awesome. maybe the next time their in san francisco!! peace ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
