Nothing seems to be firmed up yet; the web page has no bands or dates listed yet, but they expect several dates in the US and Canada. Just wanted to let you know that they have a tentative second show with the Femmes listed for 11/11.(also at Irving Plaza.) I'm really going to try to get up there for one of them even though both are on weeknights.(blah!) Moxy Fruvous is a fun, novelty band who also happens to play some pretty good music so it should be a great show. Marylee Rubaiyat -Pat. Says: Moxy Fruvous was the opening band at the Newport Folk Fest in Newport, RI last year. In my opinion they should have been much higher on the roster. I'd never heard them before but was impressed. So much so that I bought an album. It is Definatley a bit Over Produced, however the overall sound is very good. In terms of mixing I think it is one of the best, Some of their albums were mixed rather poorly. The songs are amongst my favorite now though. I think it is One of their best albums overall. Too many extra musicians aside, that is the kind of song crafting that I wish they still took the time to do. (shameless plug I know but it is VF related!) then how about the fact that BR plays on 5 tracks - acoustic bass & Moroccan bugle to be exact. Chadbourne's recordings are... well... as unique as his song titles (ex. The Indian Pancake Talks Once & Fuck Your Cat are my fave titles from this CD). IMHO Chadbourne is unencumbered by the restrictions of conventional composing and seems to have a no holds barred policy on experimentation, improvisation, and what exactly constitutes a "musical instrument." Listen with an open mind & you just might get into it. This is Jamie with a new idea. Yahoo has made it possible to creat special "clubs" for various interest groups. Tonight I went and made one for the Femmes. It is called "New Times Violent Femmes Club". It is TOTALLY free. all you have to do is get a Yahoo ID which is free. That way you can send messages and use the chat services. The best thing of this is that the whole thing is FREE. I will work on a home page for it.
