RE: Fans..Ages..Name RE: Ages..Name RE: Name RE: Ages RE: Ages RE: Gordon's Sibs..Ages RE: Gordon's Sibs BITS Question and Clash Tribute Question RE: Cover This n Stuff ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ It looks like from Sept. 16 through Sept. 24, Phil Cody will be opening for the Violent Femmes. I truly enjoyed listening to this band, and hope you will too. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ In a message dated 97-09-03 03:09:07 EDT, you write: << don't think the VF pick the opening bands, but I can remember at the Scranton PA show a band called Angry Salad played. They are from Boston. At Bloomsburg PA, a local band played, can't remember who, but they were good. A Poconos band played at Williamsport PA, they were good too. At Oneonta, NY Phil Cody played, they were excellent. They're from California, and are signed with Interscope Records. >> I know at Colgate College in Hamilton, NY Danielle's Mouth opened for them and they were REALLY bad! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Okay, maybe people just didn't understand my e-mail so, i'll repeat my request. Who has the violent femmes brought on stage with them, during the performance, to jam with them lately? the last time i saw them joan baez and a guy from the who jammed with them. i'm 25 years old........... another friend of mine on the mailing list is 46.........going on 21. hey, is anyone going to show at the Fillmore in San Francisco on September 23rd? Does anyone know if there's gonna be another show, the next night in San Francisco? It's listed as tentative. how long have the violent femmes been together. nora ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Someone enquired about the location of the Chicago show and I being a Femmes fan from the Chicago suburbs would like to add that I have never heard of the Lunar Cabaret and I am a bit skeptical on that information. Maybe someone has the Lunar Cabaret confused with the Cabaret Metro, or as it is more commonly called just "the Metro". Can someone look into that, because I am so computer illiterate but I would love to see the Femmes at the Metro. I am at school in Wisconsin so it is virtually a twenty minute process to simply dial out of my stinkin room! whine whine whine. I'm sorry. But I really think that the show is at the Metro and not the Lunar Cabaret. OK? I'm gnawing on the knowledge *em* Pat. says: I found a Lunar Caberet, Inc. at 2827 N. Lincoln Ave. (773)327-6666 during a yellow pages search. This show is for the Insect and Western Party, with Brian sitting in. This is NOT a Violent Femmes show. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Hey, why the F#@#! isn't Virginia on the Femme's tour list? Huh?! -Brian Kelly Pat. says: Because no one in Virginia asked them! That's why! Give it a little time; the Fall and Winter schedule is still developing, and you never know, it could happen yet. Just keep your eye on the tour listings. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Honestly......isn't the newsletter way more boring without a little conflict, a little tension???? Read this issue, YUCH!! Boring. I have dropped the whole drummer thing due to lack of intellegent life out there. Is there anyone who wants to talk about something that is exciting, or at least gets your brain going??? I would. I also don't like the name American Music, it's not a letter about American Music, it's about The Violent Femmes. Humdrum ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I would just like to say that this whole being a "true fan" thing is ridiculous. You have to be a certain age or something? well im 18 but i only own 1 VF cd and i've never been to one of their concerts, but i really like their music. I joined this mailing list to find out more about them and when theyre are playing because i would really like to see them in concert.(although they never seem to be in NY) I think a fan is someone who enjoys a band's music no matter if they have been one for 20 years or 2 days. A fan is a fan! Jill P.S. To comment on the new name... i love the song american music; it's one of my favs but i think that it's a bad name only because there is other people who get this who arent from america and its kinda takes away from it. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ HI, this is Beky. Um in response to that one chick who wanted to know how old everyone is, i am 14, and will be 15 on November 19 (anyone who wants to get me a present, please feel free to email me and get my address). Hmmm....okay the whole thing about the name change (anyone wishing to censor this may feel free to do so) I think everyone should just shut the fuck up about it, i mean seriously people it's not that big of a deal, we already had this stupid argument like months ago..er at least weeks ago. if you dont like the name just don't read the subject line, and imagine in your pretty little heads that it doesn't say American Music. K? Don't like get into a big argument because like a 14 year old just like bitched at you, cause that would just really suck, and that is soo not why i am writing this. i just wanted to say that the name thing isnt that big of a deal and i think everyone should drop it, or pat should go beat the shit out of the people with sticks up their asses about it. thank you, -beky Pat. says: Nah, I don't beat the shit out of people any more. I miss it sometimes tho. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I'd just like to remind everyone that we took a vote on the whole name thing. If you didn't vote, don't complain. If you voted and it didn't turn out the way you wanted, what can I say? That's democracy. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Yo! I bet I'm the youngest in this newsletter. I'm only 14. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Im am 19 years of age, === Joshua Nicols High Elder of 1x32944 Founder Blue Tape Gang "Money doesn't talk it swears" -Bob Dylan ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Hi everyone, I think Gordon's singing sister is named Cynthia. I've e-mailed his brother Glenn a few times. Very friendly, warm human being. He told me their parents live in Spokane, WA. No, No, I want to be the oldest subscriber. I'm 51. I used to think that was very old until I got there. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ In a message dated 9/5/97 10:30:30 AM, you wrote: <> What are you all for real? Read the album covers, I think the early ones from before Gordon was married. Thanks to : Cynthia Gano. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Hi. I've been reading this for a long time, but i finally got somethings to say. I went to Borders books the other day, and i was listening to the grosse pointe blank soundtrack. ok, here's my first question- what was that version of BITS on it? Im NOT talking about blister 2000. Its different then the one on Violent Femmes and Add it up. It sounds so, well, WHINY! and heres my second question- i remember the violent femmes saying on their page that they were going to do a clash song for the clash tribute album. does anyone know what song? or when this album is coming out? ____ Bobby Sayers- "If you would not be forgotten, as soon as you are dead and rotten, either write things worth reading, or do things worth the writing". - Ben Franklin Pat. says-The band had to redo Blister for the soundtrack because the old master was lost. Actually, I've always thought that explanation to be strange, since Slash had no problem coming up with it for the Add it Up CD. I've always wondered whether the Slash people were really being pricks about giving up the master because the VF were no longer signed with Slash, and The band was just too nice to come out and say, 'Hey, Slash is just a bunch of assholes'. And that's my conspiracy theory for today. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ First of all, I think "punk rock girl" would be a great song for the Femmes to cover. It's one of my dead milkmen favorites. Some one asked about ages so for the record, I'm 19 till november. Unfortunately, here in Albuquerque, its hard to find places to hear decent music if youre a youngen like me. My biggest complaint about the femmes is that (to my knowledge) they haven't been here for a couple years. They actually have a pretty big group of fans here. I love the newsletter and I don't care what you call it. ---Bridget ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
