Glad I'm sitting here in PA..if I were back home, someone probably would have smeared butter on my nose by now. Some old and very strange tradition, either French Canadien or Kahnawakee Mohawk. Way off topic, I know, but since there are some Canadiens here, maybe one of you could shed some light as to which of my ancestors thought up that one. Back to business 1.Here's the shit on the Sept. 12 show: It starts at 12 noon, and will be on the corner of MacKay and de Maisonneuve Blvd. W IT'S FREE!!! (VT, NY residents: this might be worth the trip) I know, that seems hard to believe, but it says so right on the college homepage. Other bands will be The Pursuit of Happiness, Great Big Sea, Junkhouse, and more unannounced bands. It is sponsored by Concordia University Orientation Programme and the Campaign for a New Millenium. For further info, call Concordia Student Union at (514)848-7474 or go to the office on the 6th floor of the Hall Building (H-637) at 1455 de Maisonneuve on the Downtown Campus. or email to If anyone here goes to this school: great webpage! Everything you always wanted to know is spelled out right there. Too bad I forgot to write down the URL, but it's a simple search. 2.For directions to Benedictine College in Lisle, IL (the October 9 show) go to http://www.ibc.edu/university/location.html There was nothing else of import on their webpage. Not even a way to find the email address for Student Activities. Not that I could find anyway. And the Radio station page was under construction. Nothing worked. 3.Has anyone gone to any of those Insect and Western Party Shows? I'd really like to hear about it. 4. About WHO/WHERE: I know a lot of you are asking for info about a bunch of dates, so you must be hoping to go, but I won't be putting your name in this section unless you say something like, "I'll see you all at ..." or "I will definitely be going to.." or "I can't wait to see the VF at.." 5. According to some recently answered letters in the Fan Letters section of the Official Homepage, the band is planning a world tour sometime next year. I don't think they have definite plans yet, but in preparation of that, would all of you who are not from the US please sent me the URL's of the places you check for concerts in your country. I use Pollstar and Ticketmaster here. Tried Ticketmaster Canada, but that only covers a few provinces. I would like to be able to keep the concert date list as complete as (I hope) it has been. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Just writing in too say that im a little disappointed about the name change. I thought we had decided on this list ages ago not to call it American Music because it doesnt really reflect the bands international appeal which we all now they have. I know its the name of one of their songs but i felt it should be called something else. Hopefully im not the only one who has a whinge about this. Oh well this has been my 2 cents. Frank ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ First, Happy Birthday Pat and second I just noticed the name change --- hey, it's not bad, sounds better than I thought it would. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ American Music!?! Barf and a half! Okay, so it's not the worst name a newsletter could have.... but it's no ROCK!!!, that's for sure. I'm still looking for info on the SD show, and wondering if anyone is going.... Also, everyone should remember this: As Violent Femmes Fans, it is your solemn duty to introduce as many VF-virgins to their glory as humanly possible. Hijack the stereo at parties, whip out Dance Motherfucker Dance or maybe Black Girls, and watch the party start jumping! Let's try to get as many people on this mailing list as possible! It makes a great gift! P.S. Praise God, the Victor vs. Guy fight has ended! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ just a note to say that i think the femmes should cover "i'm in love with a girl named spike" by skankin' pickle, or perhaps "brown eyed girl" by just about everyone.... two favorite songs that i think the femmes would do justice to. :) just my opinion.. -kat ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ People seem to keep wondering about new Femmes material... I've said this before I know but I'll say it again... After the Waukesha show (July 19), I was backstage talking to Brian and he told me that the Femmes have written in the neighborhood of 40-50 new songs. But he seemed surprised when I mentioned the rumor of a triple-disc release. So i don't know if they're going to do that in secret or release several new albums in the next few years or just not release some songs or what... rob=) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Hey dudes, When I saw the Femmes in 1994 on the New Times tour they had a band called, I think, Drunken Boat open up for them. This was a wacky little group with a very eccentric front-man telling wild stories and rants between songs. I was just wondering if anyone had any information about these nuts: i.e. albums if any, or if they are even together still. Any info is appreciated, Jason ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ buy glenn's cd and gordon's sister ??? i forget her name has or is putting out a cd as well..... shame on me...la la laaaa =P ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ how old is everyone in the newsletter?? Pat. says-I'm 37 boohoohoo. Somebody here did a survey a few months ago. I was the oldest respondent. But I know I'm not really the oldest one here. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Hey, does anyone know anything more about the concert in Ill. Like where to get tix? It is in some place I've never heard of, how far from Chicago is it? -L8r All- ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
