Disney World NEW FEMMES CONCERT DATE!!! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ROCK!!!!! <> ROCK!!!!! <> ROCK!!!!! <> ROCK!!!!! <> ROCK!!!!! <> ROCK!!!!! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ From: This is where the evil grows Subject: Pancake Day & Femmes here I got a copy of Pancake Day & I don't like it very much. It's really weird...just not my type o music I guess? I dunno. But that's my take on the album. Also the Femmes are playing here (Columbus, Ohio) at the Brewery Festival Sept.20 as headliners for that night. I won't get to see em cuz I'll have moved to Wisconsin (argh!)! eep opp ork ah-ah, Lyce ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ROCK!!!!! <> ROCK!!!!! <> ROCK!!!!! <> ROCK!!!!! <> ROCK!!!!! <> ROCK!!!!! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ From: Subject: Short Review Of Pancake Day (More To Follow) Okay, I've got alot to say this time, So i am going to send them in a couple different message so all the things i talk about are listed on the table of contents. first, i bought Pancake day (by Victor Delorenzo) a couple days ago and have not listened to the whole thing yet, but from what i've heard so far, it's great. It doesn't sound a whole lot like the femmes, but its still great. it's got the same femmes attitude. A Couple Of Songs: PEACH: The crazy album opener, for some reason reminds me of the presidents of the united states of america, but i like this song better, alot better. It seems to be an ode to a peach, Showing Victor's crazier side. Just listen and you'll know what I mean. BLIND: While this is a great song, it could've been produced better to make it sound more hard hitting which would give it more of an impact , but nevertheless, it is still and amazing song. NOISE: This one was produced right, so the vioce it clearer and it comes across perfectly. I can't think lof anything else to say other than that these are great songs. I'll say more in the next message I send in a couple minutes John, AKA NoidLess "when everybody's happy" ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ROCK!!!!! <> ROCK!!!!! <> ROCK!!!!! <> ROCK!!!!! <> ROCK!!!!! <> ROCK!!!!! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ From: Subject: Lazer Local Licks/Joe's Place/Channel Six/Sigmund Snopek I was listening to Lazer Local Licks (a radio show that is about local music in milwaukee, 102.9 FM, Sundays at eleven o'clock PM>) When they started talking about Victor Delorenzo and The Violent Femmes Keep In Mind that this is a hard rock station, who has NEVER in my memory played either the femmes or victor, alwasy plays bands like Metallica. The DJ woman (I don't remeber her name) First played the song BLIND. and then talked about how she had gone to the release party for PANCAKE DAY over at JOE'S PLACE, Victor's Studio. She talked about how she had talked to Victor and had a great time Then she started talking about a plaque (Sp?) she saw on the wall that held a letter that Channel Six in milwaukee has sent the femmes back sometime in the 80's screaming at them for something that they had done on the air at channel 6 that had insulted them or something like that and it was really cool. also, later in the show, they played a really cool track from Sigmund Snopek, who if any of you know, played on many of the femmes CDs. The new lead singer for the tour will be the girl from Concrete Blonde. It should be interesting and definitly a must listen and see!!! Disney World hello everyone... I think I've said this before, but ROCK!!!!!, for anyone in the Milwaukee area who doesn't have it is availble at The Exclusive Company (one on Bluemound Road in Brookfield and several others around I believe) for about $17... it rules. Someone mentioned Q101 having 'Blister In The Sun' as the #2 alternative song of all time...I read somewhere (can't remember where now) a while back that I believe Rolling Stone (that may not be correct) listed out the Top 100 most influental alternative albums of alltime...The self-titled 'Violent Femmes' was ranked either #2 or #3, behind The Ramones, and possibly Nirvana's "Nevermind" Also, to JohnPOP...the lyrics are "We all get late" (although on the web page it has both late and laid listed)...the song is referring to the City of Milwaukee's crappy public transit system which the Femmes used heavily early in their career. This song is a fun one to sing in crowds...I was with some friends in Disney World and we got maybe 100 people singing it with us outside the Marketplace while we were waiting for the Disney buses to take us back to the hotel...Several people asked who the song was by...but no one had heard of the Femmes. oh well. rob=) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ROCK!!!!! <> ROCK!!!!! <> ROCK!!!!! <> ROCK!!!!! <> ROCK!!!!! <> ROCK!!!!! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ From: Femmes Freak Subject: NEW FEMMES CONCERT DATE!!! --From the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, Aug. 14, 1996-- FEMMES HEADED TO NORTH POLE Watch out, Santa. The Violent Femmes are headed for the North Pole. Singer-guitarist Gordon Gano, bassist Brian Ritchie and drummer Guy Hoffman of the Violent Femmes will give a concert on August 31 for 70 Molson sweepstakes winners at a bash aboard the luxury Russian icebreaker Kapitan Dranitsyn. The Red Hot Chili Peppers play the next night. "The Femmes are a wild and fun and irreverent band, and they fit with the personality of the promotion," said Bruce Winterton, the New York-based brand manager for Molson Ice. There's another local connection: Milwaukee's Miller Brewing Co. is Molson's U.S. importer. The Femmes are headed north to play the second annual Molson Ice Polar Beach Party, a promotion for the Canadian beer. I'm not exactly sure how you win one of the 70 invatations...if anyone knows please post it! rob=) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ROCK!!!!! <> ROCK!!!!! <> ROCK!!!!! <> ROCK!!!!! <> ROCK!!!!! <> ROCK!!!!! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ROCK!!!!! <> ROCK!!!!! <> ROCK!!!!! <> ROCK!!!!! <> ROCK!!!!! <> ROCK!!!!! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
