VF signed to Cooking Vinyl? RE: Don't Talk About My Music Don't Talk About My Music...Again Going Solo? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Well, I listened to Detroit's WPLT online, and they did not mention U2 in the lineup for Planetfest. Is it possible the DJ said something like,"And YOU, TOO will be there"? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Come to Worcester ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ hi Just whimpering in mass. I had my first vacation in 3 years when the femmes were playing near by (less than 200 miles).... waaah. If the powers that be could only get them here to Worcester Ma, Even I couldn't miss them. Worcester is cool. We also have like a dozen colleges, so the kiddies could come. If I could be of help pointing to places they might play let me know T, P. Morse Hexdata ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ THE NEXT ALBUM!!! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ OK... I *just* got off the phone with my friend Carl -- Brian Richie's nephew -- and I have good news... The Femmes are releasing a new, LIVE album sometime this fall. I don't really have any details (because he didn't really bother to ask his uncle for them *sigh*) about the release date, but to my understanding the album is going to be parts of the October 31, 1998 show at Milwaukee's Pabst Theater. Carl promised to ask for more details the next time he talks to Brian, and I'll pass them along... but at least we know we can be looking for something this fall! YAY! oh, and by the way, Carl wanted everyone to know that he is going to be on the cover (because he plays with the Horns in Milwaukee-area shows). So you can all look for him, or whatever. rob=) coons ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ VF signed to Cooking Vinyl? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Greetings and salutations from Vancouver, again. Just surfing around the other day and checked out the website of Cooking Vinyl, who have released some music from some of my favourites...XTC & The Church. Noticed at the bottom of their home page that they state: "...later in the year expect releases from the Violent Femmes..." Does anyone know what they will be releasing? I've sent an email to the company requesting more info. Best regards, Ray raoki -Pat. Says: I went to http://www.cookingvinyl.com and indeed it does tell readers to expect an upcoming VF release. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ RE: Don't Talk About My Music ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Well, I have the Born To Choose CD, bought it at the time mainly for the Natalie Merchant/REM song "Photograph" but I pulled it out today and gave it a listen. It is indeed the same song, minus a couple of lyrics, specifically the "no, shut your mouth" bit and the "if you don't like the Femmes" bit that I noticed. Different arrangement of course, and here's what the liner notes said. Looks like the Femmes borrowed it and added a bit of their own to it. I had no idea. NRBQ "Don't Talk About My Music" (Donn Adams/Terry Adams) Hi-Varieties/Tomata-du-Plenti (ASCAP) (P) 1992 Big Notes Laurie M. Jacobs / lmjacobs http://www.geocities.com/Area51/Orion/2609 Last update: 8/7/99 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Don't Talk About My Music...Again ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Hi, Rob. When VF played in Vancouver, I noticed that Brian changed some of the lyrics from the original song, too. But I don't think he used the exact words that you mentioned...even though it would have been appropriate. I'm currently looking for a soundbite of NRBQ's version of the song but without success right now. Will let you know if I find anything. Best regards, Ray raoki ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Going Solo? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I am sure that this abc's of the Femmes for most you, but... Isn't Gordon in another band that periosically records? If so, what is the name? Lirker ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
