The first one, "Noise" I heard on the MADE IN WISCONSIN VOLUME ONE compiltation, and the second, (I'm not sure of the title, it think it's called "Blind") i heard on the radio. Both are amazing and I plan to buy the CD as soon as possible. Also, If anybody saw Citizen King at summerfust early July, Victor's son (who I think is about 13) and a couple friends played a few songs before CK went on. By the way, Victor played his own show at Summerfest, which i really wanted to go to, but unfortunatelty i missed it. IMHO, it's one of their best. I, too had not heard of it till subscribing here. I often go to a small record store downtown, and though it was not there, the owner ordered it for me. Ended up costing less than $20, not bad. There were a few places on the web which sell it, can't remember where offhand, but the prices ranged from $20-28. So, find yourself a friendly music store owner or surf around, you'll find it. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ROCK!!!!! <> ROCK!!!!! <> ROCK!!!!! <> ROCK!!!!! <> ROCK!!!!! <> ROCK!!!!! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ From: Azure! Subject: More about the Femmes and Dahmer Hi all :) In the programme for Alternative Nation (1995 Australia) the article on the Femmes gave some more information on "Dahmer is Dead". I think the interview was with Gordon (tho it was a long time ago so im not sure) and he said that the reason they had a song about this dark character was because he was the only thing more famous then the Femmes to come out of Milwaukee. He spoke about celebrity status given to mass or serial killers, and that it was troubling, and in typical femmes irony the fact that their song had helped Dahmer's noterity...which is true because countless people who *didnt* know who Dahmer was before the Femmes sang about him now have asked, and now know. If anyone has the article, I'd love a photocopy cause I lost mine in the terrible rain us poor Melbournians suffered that day to see our beloved femmes :) Azure ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ROCK!!!!! <> ROCK!!!!! <> ROCK!!!!! <> ROCK!!!!! <> ROCK!!!!! <> ROCK!!!!! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ From: TRUMAN EMILY Subject: Femmes Covers & other stuff hi about the refreshments playing 'kiss off' i heard this a couple of months ago when i went to see them in concert. :) i was impressed with it..they did a great job :) even though i have a month left of summer before i go back to school..this was the best summer i've ever had. reason #1..i traveled to milwaukee from colorado to see the femmes at summerfest :) and what a great concert that was..and reason #2 a few nights ago (july 27th) i saw the cure in concert..here in denver..and they played 'Faith' dont know how many of you are also cure fans..(them and femmes are my favorite groups) but the cure playing Faith was very very special..quite fantastic :) it was a wonderful 3hours of cure :) hi josh!! see ya in like 9 or 10 days!!! em ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ROCK!!!!! <> ROCK!!!!! <> ROCK!!!!! <> ROCK!!!!! <> ROCK!!!!! <> ROCK!!!!! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ From: "John Popadak II" Subject: Re: Rock!!!!! for 7-28-96 Hello Femme Fans!!! I am just writing to see if anyone has any information regarding the Femmes latest album "Rock." I have not been able to find it anywhere. I need it in order to have all of the Femmes albums. Also, I am not sure if this is correct but doesn't the line go: "We got the mother and the kids, we got the guy and his date We all get mad, we all get late" Is that the correct lyrics. Someone used the quote and put "we all get laid" Which one is correct? JohnPOP. "36-24-36 I want lots of pretty chicks!!!" ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ROCK!!!!! <> ROCK!!!!! <> ROCK!!!!! <> ROCK!!!!! <> ROCK!!!!! <> ROCK!!!!! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ From: Subject: Big Gordon news I don't know much details about this, but this is what one of my friends told me he read in Rolling Stone. Apparently the Talking Heads are getting back together minus the lead singer (David Byrne) and are going to be called Heads. Anyway, they are going to have a few different singers on the album to do three or four songs a piece, and considering what mailing list we're on, I don't have to tell you who one of these singers is. Keep your eye open for more details, because if it does happen, it will be very big news in the music industry. Gordon was probably chosen as one of the illustrious few because of his relationship to Jerry Harrison. Recently, Q101, an alternative rock station, had a "Top 500 alternative songs of all time" count down. Violent Femmes was on the countdown at #2 with "Blister in the Sun" I was so excited. It was good to hear that Violent Femmes have made such an influence on music. I think that I am a younger fan. I'm in high school, and not a lot of people around seem to know too much about Violent Femmes. I just thought that it would be interesting to know that they were #2 of 500 (and there were a LOT of good songs) Dave Barbick ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ROCK!!!!! <> ROCK!!!!! <> ROCK!!!!! <> ROCK!!!!! <> ROCK!!!!! <> ROCK!!!!! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ***---This letter was sent to me, but the end of it is a question that he wanted answered so I posted it---JAMES*** From: Subject: Mailing List Hi. I got my first and only copy of the Femmes mailing list on 7-28-96. I haven't received it since. Maybe I'm just a moron and did something wrong, but I don't know why I haven't received ROCK since the 28th of July. I'm hoping this will clear up everything. Oh yeah, I have a question also. I live out on Long Island and the Femmes never play and where around here The closest placed they played was Philadelphia. I was wonder why they don't play the City of Long Island. And I remember reading that they played Lalopaloza (I don't know if that's spelt right). If so, were they always on the line up or was that a last minute thing? Well I guess that's more than one question. Thanks for your time.
