Fine with me as a network like this with a central server, sharing items of questionable copywrite is doomed. I recommend gnutella. They can't kill the gnutellanet. They had Nina Hagen supposedly singing 99 luft balloons. Well the artist that did that song was Nena. Anyone who would get those two confused has hearing problems. But I am still upset that napster is being shut down. Some of the files I have are from CDs that are out of print, so it is impossible to buy these songs or I would. Rudykitten -Pat. Says: Shutting down Napster will not solve what the music industry perceives to be a problem. I never even checked out napster until last week, when I knew it was going to be shut down. I've been getting my mp3's from other places. And even if all the US sites are shut down, which I doubt because there are so many, there are all the other sites all over the world which are not subject to US laws, and which everyone can access because the internet knows no borders. If you ask me, this is all like shutting the barn doors after the horse has already escaped. Why didn't anyone try to block the manufacture of cd burners for mass consumption? Or the programs which convert mp3 to wav? Figuring out the result of these two things is a no-brainer. If these people couldn't have anticipated the natural progression of things, they have no one but themselves to blame. Another thing: before there were CD burners, I made compilation tapes instead of CD's. That never stopped me from buying CD's, and neither has the existence of mp3 sites. I usually just use mp3 sites to download "that one song" by an artist whose cd I know damn well I'd never buy anyway. Acutally I think the Ramones may be covering the song. But, it is definitely done the Ramones way. Sort of like most of Rock!!!!. The song is called Chinese Rocks. I have it on the Machine single. It's a cool rendition because Gordon is laughing his way through a lot of it and screwing up the chord progression here and there.
