It should be a hell of a show. The Femmes aren't headlining, but they play second to last. On top of that, Gordon is playing a solo set early in the day and Guy and Brian are doing a set together in the middle of the afternoon. It's like 3 shows in one !!!!!! : ) Paul pdoughty ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Marlboro Show ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Okay, so I was having a good nap after work and was planning on doing homework later in the evening and a knock raps upon my door. Tis my sister and brother in law waking me up from a deep slumber... I, of course, wake up pissed. I respond in the regular "WHAT?!?!?!" All I hear is, "The Violent Femmes are playing at EJ's tonight." I jump right out of bed and get dressed. I get out of my room and ask... "are you sure?" The reply I hear is "yes, it's the Marlboro show." So my sister calls EJ's and asks how much the show is and they tell her that the only thing you need to get in is 200 Marlboro miles. Well, none of us smoke so we were distraught with anger trying to figure out how much four cartons would be.. and it ended up being over 80 dollars. So we went to the venue with 10 marlboro miles between the three of us. We got to the venue and a woman there asked us if we needed tickets. I ended up purchasing 200 marlboro miles for 20 buck which got me and my sister in... but we still needed 200 more for my brother in law.. which he got for 10 dollars... (so an average of 10 dollars per person.) We got in just before the femmes started their set... it was awesome... It was the standard femmes set with Rainy day women #12 and #35 by Dylan and the new South Park tune. Cynthia was there again along with Sigmund Snopek III. After the show they signed autographs. I was able to get two guitar picks signed. After the show I talked to Cynthia Gayneu and she said that she has a new album out. I asked her how to purchase them. I asked her if I could get them through Glenn Gano and she said that if he did not have them that he could get in touch with her and get the album.. on the way out Cynthia said " Bye, Steve" which was the greatest thrill of the night for me.... anyway... that's probaby it until the September show... that was the greatest unexpected thrill of the summer for me.... - LilBoek P.S.-oh yeah, I forgot this too... At the show I asked if they had a release date for Freak Magnet yet.. Guy informed me that they would probably release a live album before that. I then asked if "Reggie's Right" was going to be on it and Guy gave a funny little smirk and said that it probably wouldn't... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Freak Magnet ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ i don't recall having seen this here in the newsletter, but i just read on the femmes homepage that they have inked a deal with Beyond Records to release FREAK MAGNET in october! scotter flyingdutchguy -Pat. Says: Yes, I told everyone to check out the homepage, but didn't say why. I wonder how many people actually did. I've searched without luck for a URL for Beyond Records, or even anything about it. Anyone have any info about this company? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ RE: Eep Opp ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Doesn't Gordon state on the inside cover that they didn't actually play the song....i thought he said that the record company has another band to do it...it happens all the time... -vulture -Pat. Says: What Gordon said was a joke, and everyone's been explaining it ever since. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Hello from Yugoslavia ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Hi everybody! Things have returned to normal around here, and I wanted to send hellos to everybody on the list. Thank you Pat for posting my message a few months ago. If I knew it would almost start a flame war, I would never send it (well, maybe I wouldn't make it so radical). O:) Anyway, "politics & dirty tricks.." the rest you know. Here comes the VF question: I'm searching for a concert video I saw a few years ago. I can't remember much of it, but I do remember that Gano let the camera man sing "Blister in the Sun"! :) Please, help me identify the video, because I don't know what to look for. Thanks in advance, and many greetings from Belgrade, Yu Viktor armitage ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
