Re: I'm nothing for Reality Bites Violent Femmes - Artist of the Month Snopek ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Playing Around ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Changing things around again, working on that pesky star, I'll get it sooner or later... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Finger This Out! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I just checked the official homepage, the femmes are not listed for any of newportfolk california shows. Can you finger this out? I hate that I can't even get on a 1-2 hr plane to see them; you east coasters are lucky stephen -Pat. Says: The VF Official Homepage and Pollstar list a San Fran show. The Newport Folk page may not have updated their info. Try calling BASS for info. I only have an 800 number for out of staters, that # is 1-800-225-BASS or go to http://www.Bass-tix.com If anybody finds anything, please email me so I can tell everyone else. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Folk Fest Still On? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I thought the Femmes cancelled all their Folk Festival dates? Daniel -Pat. Says: According to Deana, the Atlanta show has been cancelled, but as far as I know, the rest are still on. It'd be a real shame if the rest were cancelled as well. Anybody know anything definite here? Some of these shows are getting close, and I may consider going to the Philly one. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Re: I'm nothing for Reality Bites ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ << Incidentally, "I'm Nothing" was written for the movie "Reality Bites". For some unknown reason the producers chose not to use it (too many drugs?), but in this case the band ended up with a very good song. >> Okay, see Reality Bites is one of my all time favorite movies, so I know the whole deal with the "I'm nothing" not being used thing. I heard that I'm Nothing was actually written for the movie Reality Bites, and that they were going to use it, because they were already using a femmes song for Troy's (Ethan Hawke's) band. So, while the producers were considering the song, Ethan Hawke wrote a song too, and it sounded more fitting for his character, because it's much more mellow and he's got a really mellow character, so they used his song "I'm Nuthin' " in the movie instead. Let me also say that the song the femmes wrote was much better, and I really think Ethan Hawke should stick to his acting carrer rather than pursue a musical career. -Beky ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Violent Femmes - Artist of the Month ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Okay, check it out. There's this bootleg reference/database/resource thingie called "The Trade" (www.tapetrader.com). And recently, they just started doing this "Artist of the Month" thing. Anyway, I volunteered to do a page for the Femmes. I made it and now I want all of you to check it out and comment. Please. I haven't turned it in to the guy yet, as I definitely plan to make at least a few changes... So, any comments or suggestions you guys have, please tell me. If you disagree with any of my selections or statements or anything, by all means, TELL ME!!! I won't get mad at you or bite you, or dig my fingernails into your back as you...um, uhhh..nevermind that now. But seriously, help me out folks. You will help me make the Femmes the fourth Artist of the Month in history. Thank you to everybody and Deana because she already helped me a little, Nick Oh yeah, here's the URL: http://www.geocities.com/SunsetStrip/Lounge/1725/vf-aotm.html I think. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Snopek ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Hey, the other day i was in the Wherehouse and looking through the 99 cent used cassette section when I saw (okay, my friend saw) the side of a tape that said "SNOPEK". So I looked and opened it up and sure enough it was our good old friend Sigmund Snopek III's band, back in 1979(!). Wow. Anyway, I don't know how famous this is. But it was not on a major label, that's for sure. It's cool. It has a song called Hamburger Holocaust, that's probably the best song on it. I recommend picking it up, if you can find it.
