Says: I received this in the mail yesterday. Although I can not help this person, I did want to include this post in AM to let you know about another possible SoCal concert. This is not yet listed on the Canes homepage: Hello! My name is Pamela Johnsen and I do the bookings at Canes Bar & Grill in San Diego, CA. We have the Violent Femmes scheduled to play a show here on August 13, 1999. I have been trying to contact their record label Freak Records to get some merchandise ( posters, stickers, photos and a cd) but I have not been successful as of yet. Could you maybe help me to get some promotional materials to my club? I greatly would appreciate any advice. Thanks and I look forward to hearing from you. Kindest regads, Pamela Johnsen, Bookings Assistant -Pat. Says (again): I can not help people book shows, nor can I get promotional materials. You must contact their management or record company for all that. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Nothing in Particular ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I was listening to Gone Daddy Gone on the first album the other night and enjoying Brian's xylophone bit. I was wondering are there any other songs on which he plays xylophone. The same went for Good Feeling on which Gordon plays violin. Are there more? I've seen Brian play xylophone live but does Gordon ever play violin on stage? That guy from the Milwaukee paper was way off with his comments about the songs from the first album being jaded. Most bands play their earlier stuff live. I've seen the Stones play (among others) Satisfaction, Neil Young play Needle and the Damage Done and U2 play I Will Follow, and all these songs got a huge response from the audience. So to suggest that the Femmes had nothing else to offer shows the guy's lack of knowlegde of their material. Maybe he's a bit jaded himself. scrawbzy ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ RE: Femmes Going Off Stage ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ In reference to the Femmes leaving the stage after being hit with a water bottle cap. I was at a concert 2 years ago in Indiana and items were thrown on stage. The VF walked off stage after that too. I was mad I lost my money, but then again more mad at the children who ruined the concert for everyone! I feel no one deserves to be hit with anything while playing a concert, nor should they dodge things being thrown on stage! just my 2 cents. Kerri kerrinross ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ RE: Mystery Men Soundtrack ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I Was listening to the song from the soundtrack of Mystery Men, and i was really happy to discover that this song is indeed one of my favorite from the Men in Black, yes, The Stranglers, this song dates from 1977 from the album of the same name. I just can't wait to hear the whole version by the femmes. I wonder what they did with the keyboard part of the song, which on the original are enormous. Franois ffrenet ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Freak Magnet and South Park ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Hey - Just obtained Freak Magnet. (Ok, I got it several months ago but my brother somehow managed to move it into his collection, so I had to repatriate it.) Fucking brilliant. Best album since 3. Better than 3. Doesn't have the quick hook of a Jeff Dahmer, or the creepy edge of Country Death Song- but you can't help but hit replay when it's over. I hereby swear to buy at least five copies as gifts when it gets a real release. Happiness Is - classic Femmes - Mosh Pit - a nice tip to the over 30's - (wanna short circuit a teen's head? Remind them you recall the origins of slam dancing in it's myriad forms) Yes Oh Yes, I'm Nothing- great song after great song. Also picked up the South Park soundtrack- all the way to the store I'm thinking which song says Femmes? Honestly thought it'd be Uncle Fucker.....I Can Change was a nice twist. Loved it. My spouse is like, are we gonna buy a whole album for one Femmes track again? And I said, No way, babe - it's got the guys from Rush. Issue closed. But when we take a week or so off and follow a band around it's never Rush. Now if we could just get more VF/BNL dates............ Liz Liz8829 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ South Park ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Hello all! I haven't kept up here in a while, nice to be back. This is gonna be quick cause I'm so tired from watching Rosencranz and Guildenstern(?) are Dead. What a funny movie. Blockbuster has it under "drama", along with welcome to the dollhouse. warped people there, huh? anyways, in my local Cd shoppe the other day, or yesterday actually, I picked up the South Park Cd, just too look at, not like I picked that smut up for listeing pleaure, anyways, there's a song on there by the femmes, I would have bought the Cd just for that (and maybe the uncle fucka' song) but i have a sinking suspicion it is a look alike band, just like the eep-op-ork deal. Any info anyone? hey, where are those videos, did I miss that? Props to Pat and Ms. Deary for all your hard work! Looking forward to it! Peace everyone, very tired. Nightie. -Drewery thenewkid -Pat. Says: Yes, we have to get that video out yet. UMM the Eep-Opp is not a lookalike. It's the real deal. As far as I know, the only person in the universe who sounds remotely like Gordon is his brother Glenn. Or the other way 'round, if we're talking birth order. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
