I went to the Krockathon on July 11th, in Vernon Downs, NY. The concert was pretty good for the most part. The last four bands that played were the best, though. They were Marvelous 3, Sponge, The Violent Femmes, and Orgy who closed off the show. I was kinda mad that the Femmes weren't headlining, but I guess I can see why. So anyways, throughout the day, most of the bands walked around and signed stuff. I met every band except the Femmes, another huge disappointment. So I waited and finally the Femmes were going to play. When they got on stage they announced that if anybody threw anything on to the stage they would stop the show and leave. Then they started playing. They started with I'm Nothing, which I thought was kinda weird. But anyways, the play list looked something like this (not in this exact order): I'm Nothing Look Like That Country Death Song Blister In The Sun Prove My Love Add It Up Kiss Off Promise Gimme The Car American Music Waiting For The Bus some Rejoice song Black Girls I thought that some of these songs were odd choices to pick. I've never heard quite a few of them played at a concert before. During Black Girls, towards the end of the song, something flew up on stage and it hit Gordon in the head. Well, let's just say he got a little pissed. He stopped singing, looked at Brian, and everything stopped. The thing that hit him turned out to be the cap to a water bottle. Well, the Femmes got in cars and left almost as soon as they got off stage. I was pretty pissed too, considering I drove 3 hours to see the Femmes and then they cut their set short. Supposedly they only had 2 minutes of playing time left, but I was still mad. Ok, I'm finished now. I hope everyone enjoyed my story. In addition to the song on the South Park soundtrack (which I'm pretty sure I did see mentioned here) our beloved Femmes have a song called "No More Heroes" on the soundtrack to Mystery Men. A clip from the song can be heard in the soundtrack section of the Mystery Men website, http://www.mysterymen.com -I've been looking forward to this film for a while and it seems like a film that Femmes music really belongs in.
