Here are the highlights... Gordon did a special little Father's Day duo - a little ditty he said his dad used to sing to him when he was a little boy - I'd call it the Mom & Pappy song - it was precious! and Just Like My Father (Like Pat said -they do seem to be throwing this one in a lot lately) A special guest joined in so the guys did something with a "harmony." Aussie Spencer T. Jones (I believe that's the correct name) was in town with Paul Kelly and he sat in and played slide on Good Feeling and Dance MF Dance. And to my utter delight - Brian blew a few spectacular minutes on the shakahachi during Black Girls. yes Oh yes..... the Violent Femmes rocked Bham in the sweltering summer heat of the tenth annual city stages... -ddearry ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Upcoming Review ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Just so everyone knows, I write for an online magazine, called In Music We Trust. It can be found out http://imwt.hypermart.net/ The reason why I am telling everyone this is because I attended the Drexel Show and I did a review of it. It should be up the first of July. Check it out. Jen brownj ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ RE: Eep Opp Ork Ah Ah ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Just a little bit of info. The "EEP OPP ORK AH-AH" song that was in the Jetsons was not done by the Femmes. It was sung by Ralph Sall and some studio musicians. But the Femmes do sing the one that is one the Cd. What I thought was funny was that Gordon said, "Love in outer space between humans and aliens will be a salient issue facing the 21st Century. 'EEP OPP ORK AH-AH' is very important and prophetic song that transcends mere entertainment." Stephani Kahal ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ RE: Eep Opp Ork Ah Ah ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ >-Pat. Says: Yes, they're the same song. You can hear the VF version of > this song on the Saturday Morning Cartoons compilation. worth picking up might I add..........the rev.(horton heat) and helmet are on the comp. as well......and i have to give sublime a tap of the hands for their effort...even though i think they blow!!! byebye -kyle_souza ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Gordon in Rugrats Movie ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ A while back (last Halloweeen to be specific), Mark Mothersbaugh of Devo was at the U of A here in Tucson where I live. He was part of a panel organized by a local radio station and Evening Star Entertainment; local concert promoters. The panel was so students could ask questions about how to break into the music business. After it was over, I went down to the front and asked Mark about his current projects, which happen to be film scores and soundtracks. He mentioned that he was doing the music for the rugrats movie, and that he had arranged for many different musicians to work on it with him. If I recall correctly, there is going to be one song which has 17 different artists singing, and Gordon is going to be one of them. I'm not really sure about that part, but I do remember the part about 17 people. The femmes haven't played here in a while. Maybe I should see if I can get those same promoters to arrange a concert. I'm sure we could lure them back with some eegee's... Chris ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ He Owes You $1000 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Hey guys n gals. I was talking to this guy today who was telling me that he knew who the Femmes were before other ppl cuz he's from Pennsylvania. I asked him what that had to do with it and he tried to tell me that the Femmes are from Penn. I was like "uhhh...no, they're from Wisconsin." He was like "No. They're not. They're from Pennsylvania" I was like "I swear to you that they are form Wisconsin. They're my favorite band." He still didn't believe me. In fact, he was willing to bet me a grand that he was right. On top of that, he tried to tell me that they released an album before the self titled and that his uncle has it. I personally think he's full of shit. He also told me that the Femmes were on an Indi label first and not Slash. I had a record of the self titled and it says on it in big ol letters "S-L-A-S-H" Does anyone know anything about the possibility of the Femmes having released a possible disc (possibly a demo) before the self-titled? Anyway. Everything else I know he's full of shit on since I have solid proof of it. And when I looked at the Discography on the home page, it had only the albums I know of... but neway.. beyz ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Forbidden ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Someone posted a message a while back and said that the song "Forbidden" (Freak Magnet) was a William Carlos Willaims poem set to music. I have tried to find the poem, and have had no luck whatsoever. Does anyone know where I can find it?
