EEP OPP ORK AH AH EEP OPP ORK AH AH Calling Madison ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ New Tour Date ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ About that San Francisco show...The Newport Folk Fest Homepage lists that show on the 19th, and an LA show on the 20th..Stay tuned for developements here. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ RE: Step Right Up ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ << so I type up "violent femmes" at amazon.com and among the usual, I get "step right up." Does anyone have any clue what this is? Step Right Up was a movie made about Tom Waits.....at least i think. The Femmes are on the soundtrack...they cover "step right up" it's really neat if you ask me. -kara - ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ RE: 36-24-36...CD Prices ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Hey...in reference to the 36-24-36 line. The only thing that *I* can think of that it came from is what some guys (the stupider types by my definition) think as the perfect woman. I've seen some guys use the tag line "36-24-36 is the key to my heart". I assumed they just meant that's what they'd LIKE for a girl to have for measurements. But whatever. Anyone else have any thoughts? Another question. What's the most expensive you've ever seen the Add It Up disc for (or any other disc that's NOT an import or special disc). I saw Add It Up and the self titled in this record store in the mall for $21 each. I almost had a heart attack. I've also seen them both for $13 or so at Best Buy (not my favorite of stores..trust me). I bought my Add It Up disc (first Femmes disc) for I think $14 or so brand new at a music shop in Edgewater, FL.. If any of you could see how scratched up and tore up the disc is now, you'd probably think I used it as a drink coaster (it's called 4 years of constant use..I used to put the cd on repeat and play it all day long for weeks straight..I kid you not). But, I think one of the best places to look for CD's is music club type places. There's a place called BB's here that has many used discs for $7 and under. I believe I bought Blind Leading the Naked for $4. Anyway...don't ask my what that was all about.... beyz ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Finding CD's ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Just couple of words for you, guys. FINALLY, I found a CD store where I can buy VF tracks. Why might think that I'm crazy if I count this fact to be enough to write to the list? Here is the story: I'm living in Russia. Heh, short story. But I've been looking for VF tracks almost for 2 years. And found only two ancient tapes with guess-how-it's-called albums. So, now I'm happy. I even wrote to Pat (thanx you for care, Pat) finding a way to buy CD's. When I spoke to salesman in that wonderful store he said that they got only 2 copies of each album (now they got only one copy :-) ). OK, that's all I have to say about that :-) Greetings from Russia, Arzhan Kizhalin ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ RE: Amazon.com ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I HAVE ORDERED ROCK!!!! FROM AMAZON.COM. I HAVE THE ENTIRE VF COLLECTION BEFORE ROCK!!!! AND I AM EXTREMELY HAPPY TO FINALLY HAVE IT ON CD. AMAZON.COM SENT ME AN E-MAIL TODAY, SAYING THEY GOT MY ORDER AND MY CD WILL BE IN THE MAIL AS SOON AS MY CHECK CLEARS! JOY!! MAX ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ RE: Cover THIS! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ A thread from a few issues back was covers that the Femmes have done, and I think we all agreed that a lot of covers suck because the record companies see dollar signs and force bands to do them. Not to offend their fans, but everytime I hear the Wallflowers "Heroes" their low low energy reminds me of a coma I once entered. BUT! What makes the Femmes neat, I started to think, was how they have a knack for taking poems, stories, etc and setting them to music, something I haven't heard a lot of bands do! Here's all the ones i could come up with: Hey Nonny Nonny (of course) Forbidden - from somewhere i've heard. I Danced Agamemnon and New Times (although nobody knows what the %$@&! they mean) so help me...there'z others. And i like the lyrical feel of all o' them. joshua -Pat. Says: There's also Requiem off of Freak Magnet. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ EEP OPP ORK AH AH ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ wasn't EEP OPP AH-AH (means i love you) on the jetsons once? where judy accidentally sends a program thing that ellroy made into a lyric contest for her flavor of the week rockstar? i'm pretty sure that was the song. i dunno, just a thought. -beky [email protected] -Pat. Says: You are absolutely right, Beky. EEP OPP was originally a Jetsons song, and I saw that episode (again) myself a few months ago. There are advantages to having kids...I'll be taking them to the Rugrats movie in November (Gordon is supposed to be lending his voice or something) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ EEP OPP ORK AH AH ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Years and years ago, before I've ever heard the Violent Femmes, I was watching the Jetsons. There is an episode where they play the song "Eep Opp Ork Ah-Ah." A few years later, I started listening to the Femmes. I joined this newsletter and I kept reading things about this song "Eep Opp Ah-Ah." Do you know whether or not this is the same song? Thanks, Erika -Pat. Says: Yes, they're the same song. You can hear the VF version of this song on the Saturday Morning Cartoons compilation. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Calling Madison ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ If anyone on this list lives in or near Madison, Wisconsin. I would be really thrilled to get in contact with you, since I will be moving there for 3 years in august. And I know absolutely no one in that area of the states. By the way does anyone know how to get some kind of version of Freak magnet in Europe???? I've checked around and nobody seems to even know the Femmes.....
