Now it's showing them at the Rose Garden in Portland?!? I've never considered them an amphitheater type band, and they've always just done larger sized clubs. Is this a trend the boys are taking, or does it mean they're playing with others who are amphitheater-type? >> I will also be going to the Portland show. I have seen the Violent Femmes play at this ampitheater before (In fact it was the same concert series only in 93 or 94 (I don't really remember)) and this venue is one of the most perfect choices for the Femmes. Black Happy opened up for them but the crowd wasn't into them and loudly requested the Femmes. I believe it was sold out, don't remember that either, but the venue is really, really good. SIDE NOTE: CAKE will be opening for the femmes on September 5th... I have heard that the article may have even been the impetus for "Don't Talk About My Music." Sooo... imagine my genuine glee when I heard about the Summerfest date at the Marcus! I have been trying to find time to search for this article ever since & I finally found a few minutes so I am posting an important little snipet here and the guy's email address. You know - just for freedom of speech purposes only. Don't send hate mail to the guy - I mean he's obviously got some serious "p" envy issues (if you know what I mean). Besides, Femmes fans are without a doubt the smartest fans in the world so get creative and send him your own personal "thought for the day" or "Dear Dave" note. Mine will be a reminder to maintain a regular pedicure schedule. Starting July 4, I am going to be in Moscow, Russia for a month doing a language study program. The organizers of the program keep urging us to have friends there before we go, but they never give us any advice on how to get these friends. As you can imagine, the whole thing is really frustrating. So anyway, *THE POINT*. I was tormenting myself with my lack of Russian friends earlier when suddenly I thought "Who better than Femmes fans to look to for friendship in a strange land?" So, as the closest we come on efnet #violentfemmes to Russia is Finland, I thought I would ask you if you had any list subscribers from Russia. So, that's what I'm asking. I don't know if you can give me their emails or if you would give them my email or if it would be better to just post something to the list.
