I just saw it last night. My guide says it can also be seen (Eastern time) at 8pm on the 16th, 8pm on the 29th, and 3:05am on the 30th. Check your TV guides for times in your area. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Back From Germany ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Hey everybody! Hope your summers are going smashingly well! I'm sitting on a butt-doughnut and wearing a back support right now because my first day back from Germany one of my horses bucked me off and almost broke my tailbone. (You know, I didn't eat any horse-burgers while in Europe but it's not too late!!!! ;) There are pebbles embedded in my ass! And you think you have problems! Thankfully, although Munich was home base for my trip, I returned home one day before that big train wreck and so I my only near-disaster was flying through tornadoes and lightning to get to Pittsburgh. (Oh yeah. Pat? BTW Pittsburgh has an "h" at the end; please change the spelling for the Newport Folk Festival in the 'burgh. It's been driving me nuts!) Tornadoes in *PA*! Hmmm, approaching Armageddon or just El Nino?! Anyway, we're hopefully getting a horse farm in the state of Indiana this summer and my sister was hounding me for a farm name. I suggested "Freak Magnet Farm" because it seemed so perfect!--All our horses are freaks, the Jack Russells are definitely freaks, my snaggle-toothed puddin'-headed pudder cat is a freak, Goat-Goat is a freak, and we're...perfectly normal, well-adjusted human beings thank you very much! "Uh...no!' she said. My brother-in-law loved it though and he even came up with a slogan: "Bring your freaky horse to our freaky farm!---We'll treat it like the freak it is!" He's not normal. Not even close. And Beyz, you said something about a cover of Kiss Off by the Banditos. Any chance the people at the store told you it didn't exist because you were thinking of the cover by the Refreshments who have a song called Banditos??? Just a thought. Sean Lennon has great taste! I AM a huge Beatles fan. They are in fact (gasp!) my FAVORITE band! Ok, damnit I know there was more, but my sister's yellling at me to get off the computer b/c she needs to make a phone call. Aaaaarrrrrrgggghhhhhh! Love ya!***amber (I wanna take Ginger-Spice's place!) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ RE: Freak Magnet ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Hey guys. All this talk about Freak Magnet is pissing me off. I want the CD so freaking bad. And you guys keep talking about it and telling us how great the songs are and how much you are enjoying it. IT'S NOT FAIR!! Some of you are already chilling to it and I have to wait till savas knows when to listen to it!! Even if I had a tape of it, I'd still buy the CD. I have tapes of Violent Femmes, Blind Leading the Naked, and Debacle: The 1st Decade. But, I also have Violent Femmes and Blind Leading the Naked on CD. Man do I want to hear Freak Magnet so bad! Hehe. But I guess I'll just have to wait (simmer, simmer, glare, steam). I was wondering if anyone else caught this lil blip... <<<"Happiness Is" (4:20) >>> I wonder if that was done on purpose or not...anyone have any opinions on it? (For those of you that are clueless..welllll...you just don't know what you're missing ;) ) Grand Kaiser: You need to get a job or do something with all that free time(grin) beyz ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ RE: Never Tell ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ >The Femmes really should re-learn how to play "Never Tell": that would >be the ultimate live Femmes song, imho. Hey, they still play it, man. When I saw them last November it was one of the most kick ass songs that they played! -gkaiser ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ RE: Never Tell ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ >The Femmes really should re-learn how to play "Never Tell": that would >be the ultimate live Femmes song, imho. Anyone with a bassline for this >song should contact me! I just wanted to say that they DID play Never Tell at the 9:30 club in Washington DC in March and it was one of the coolest concert experiences I ever had! Josh ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ RE: Ska Covers ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ In a message dated 98-06-05 10:03:33 EDT, you write: > Any ideas on which songs would transfer well to ska or swing? my very short lived ska band... we did a tribute to Violent Femmes...we played Kiss Off, Add it Up, Give me the Car (which was probably the best), mirror mirror (I see a damsel), and lastly blister in the sun (came out the worst)... but I loved it so much... cause I don't ever get to sing... but with these songs I did... woo hoo Zac ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ RE: Ska Covers and More ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "Tonight." That has ska written all over it. I just listened to exerpts from every Femmes song I have . Tried to skank to each one, and "Tonight" is the numero uno choice. Man, actually you know there's like a grnd total of about 10 songs by the Femmes that you can't convert easily to Ska. See, our heros use almost exclusively 1-4-5 progressions, only instead of power chords, octaves, or fifths, they actually use full chords. You just have to switch them over to the cheap substitutes and add distortion. You know what... actually, I bet that if you did a compilation that would kick some major ass. "Old Mother Reagan" and "Dahmer is Dead" would fit SO nicely in there. I'm getting excited. Actually don't do that... I want to. And I'm sure you could pull off "Black Girls" if you can convince your band members to trade in their trumpets for game calls. Speaking of which... I found out what the didgeridoo sounds like. Thanks Pat. And I have a question about "Rock!!!!!" Those are the band members on the cover, right? Who's who? I think they are. The black haired one looks like Brian (look at the nose) The one in the back looks like Guy, but it might actually be Gordon. And that one on the floor, I have no idea. Maybe it's not them. That would make my life easier. Anyone? Anyone? Bueller? And thanks to everyone who's supporting me on the boardwalk thing. This country has a superfluety of cops and I think we should cause some rucous about it! I'm gonna start throwing bricks! Hey has anyone tried Guy's chicken soup recipe? Is it any good? -Drew -Pat. Says: You got Brian right, but the one in the back is Gordon (that 4:00 shadow, see?) and the one on the floor is Guy. You know actually Guy looks great in drag. He just takes such good pictures. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
