Tubas of Dilemma RE: LoDo Festival Tix for the boston show...? Re: Violent Ramones "Don't Talk About My Music" RE: Why Can't I Get Just One T-Shirt? Hello Copy of FM? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ JUNE 26 -- SUMMERFEST! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ OK, I called it, and it's now official. The Femmes will be at Summerfest on June 26!! They're playing the Marcus Ampitheater, and tickets are $12.50 (plus Summerfest admission), on sale Wed. at 10 am. AND I'M GOING TO BE AT A STUPID FAMILY REUNION. ask me if i'm pissed. but that's beside the point. Anyway, the opening band is another great Milwaukee band, Citizen King. They're latest album "Mobile Estates" was on Warner Bros. and has sold really well. If you listen to an alternative or modern rock station or watch MTV (does anybody still do that??), you've probably heard their song "Better Days (And The Bottom Drops Out)". Anyway, they are amazing and really good live. I would highly recommend their CD (or, if you live in Milwaukee, look for their indie-release "Brown Bag"...). And enjoy the show. Think of me while you're having fun, I'll be in a stuffy room with lots of old, stuffy people. *cry* rob=) coons ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Tubas of Dilemma ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Hi everyone, NEWS FLASH!! I just got off the phone with Gordon and the news is that my son, Dan will once again be playing with the illustrious Horns of Dilemma at the Newark show on Sunday. They go on about 4:30 and Gordon says it will be a short set because following them will be Los Lobos and The Neville Brothers. I'm psyched, I'm happy, I'm excited. Dan doesn't even know yet, so you all know before he does! I'll report when I get back. Bye for now, Marylee Rubaiyat ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ RE: LoDo Festival ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ <> sorry this wasn't in last issue. Go to http://www.lodofest.com. That's the official webpage of the Lodo Festival. it tells who's playing, etc. Tickets are sold through ticketweb, instead of Ticketfascist. Go to http://www.ticketweb.com/user/?region=colorado&query=schedule&attract=22696 and you can order tickets over the internet. They're really cheap, $12 for each day, $22 for both. I'm gonna be there!!!!!! All the way from L.A. Come on out Deana and Amber!!!!! Nick mypen15 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Tix for the boston show...? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ forgive me, pat...but i was wondering how in god's name to get tix for the show in boston/hyannis...i went to pollstar, and they seemed thoroughly useless...please help! Nevertell6 -Pat. Says: If nobody responds to this, I'll check it out next week. This week has been deadly. I owe personal email to many many people...Cheryl..Deana..Mike..Marylee..friends in Brooklyn.. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Re: Violent Ramones ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Howdy folks, "She Went To Germany" is a Femmes song and a Femmes song only (unless somebody is covering it). There is no song by that name attributed to the Ramones, nor is there any Ramones song with the word "Germany" in it's title. By the way- did you know that the debut Ramones album and the debut Femmes album are (along with Hendrix's "Are You Experienced?" and R.E.M.'s "Murmur" and a few others) quite possibly the finest debut records ever? It's a well-known fact...... ;) -- Paul beatnik -Pat. Says: Long time no read Paul! Welcome back to Unlurkerland! On to the subject: I personally hate to admit that a woman may be wrong, but I'd have to tell heyzeus that he is probably in the unique position of knowing one who occasionally is mistaken. Only occasionally, mind you. Mark the date down on your calendar, because it'll be a long time before it happens again. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "Don't Talk About My Music" ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ >The song went something like IF YOU DONT LIKE >MY MUSIC THEN TOUGH ! The Femmes wrote that song, I believe, about an article in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel last October talking about how they were old and washed up and none of their albums from WDBS? on were any good.... I think the first time they played it was on their Wisconsin "Got Femmes?" tour in late October, just to vent. At the Milwaukee show, Brian didn't say the name, but I kind of assumed it to be called "Don't Talk About My Music." Also, I believe the line in question was "You say the Femmes are old/You say they suck/But if you don't like my music /Why don't you get fucked?" It's not on any albums. rob=) coons ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ RE: Why Can't I Get Just One T-Shirt? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ << There was a shirt there with a Japanese cartoon character on it and it said "Why can't I get just one fuck?" I really wanted to but it, but I had no money. does anyone know where I can find it? >> ive seen that shirt a few times. you can find it at any of their shows. thats where i've seen it at least. ive never seen any femmes stuff at any stores, even ones that are really neat and have stuff you wouldnt find most other places. you'd figure differently with living next to new york city and other neat places...but no. in any case, yes, you can find that shirt most likely in a corner of any venue that the femmes might be playing in. good luck :) ~shannon Fraggle3 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Hello ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ What a great set of emails. Can I thank Pat Wary for organising this. Firstly I'd like to sympathise with Lisa from NZ. The VF's come very infrequently to the UK as well. I don't think they'd come at all if it weren't for all the Ozzies and Americans over here. Even when they do come they play one gig and it sells out weeks in advance and you end up paying a fortune on the door. Grrrrr. Still it's better than nothing I guess. At the last gig I think I managed to get Gordon's pleck, and the time before that I got Brian's (Which has spent nearly two years in my wallet). I know Brian's pick is Brians as it has the VF logo from New Times on it. Gordon's is just grey vinyl (0.2mm I think), can anyone confirm to this anorack whether it is actually his? Brian and the Roadie were the only other guitar players that night and they both played bass, so who else would be using a .2mm pick apart from Mr. Gano? If anyone wants to swap my red 'When I'm out walking i strut my stuff' t-shirt which is Enormous for a small one then email me. i have had five VF t-shirts. 3 are too big (mistakes in concerts and from the website) and of the other two, one got stolen. If anyone is a mad collector of brian's picks and has a 1991 tour t-shirt with the three headed guy on it I'd LOVE to swap it for the pick. They did the groovy lighting effect for Never Tell in London too. Can I finish by mentioning the incredibly medicinal effects of jumping up and down and screaming the lyrics at the top of your voice (like a mad banshee woman) to Blister in the Sun. Cures most ailments (apart from serious ones, and asthma which it just Exacerbates, and dizzyness, and pins and needles). Elaine - Never Tell - Kellow. e_kellow ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Copy of FM? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I've seen some recent posts asking where to get a copy of Freak Magnet and there hasn't been much of a response. I was hoping the question would've been answered by now so I wouldn't have to crawl out from under my rock. If and when the "real" Freak Magnet comes out I definitely will purchase a legitimate copy. However, I want to get the promo copy too because the released version may have different tracks or something and I wouldn't want to miss anything. I could probably find one being auctioned on line but in light of the recent discussion about ebay I don't think I'd buy it there. Greg Ward greg.ward -Pat. Says: The price of FM on Ebay seems to have decreased lately. Whether it's because this is the time of year that a lull occurs in the online auction houses, or whether those who would spend big money for it now have it, who knows? At any rate, check out Ebay from time to time, don't spend more than about $30 bucks for it. I know Southland Cd had them; haven't checked lately whether they still do. That's another place you need to check regularly. Give it time; I'm sure you'll find one at the right price. Be warned that in all likelihood you will be buying a burned copy. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
