Re: Femmes in London Femmes Concert Slightly Disturbed... Buy this Dude RE: Faith Dance ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ There's been quite a bit of updating of the Official Homepage. Brian has answered another pile of letters. Check it out. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Violent Femmes Web Site ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I just finished A new web site that has original photos of the Femmes, (Deanna's pics are great) & audio samples of live performances. If you could include A link to it in AM's link section I'd really appreciate it :) Here's the address: http://www.bigfoot.com/~planetblue Also, in the main section there is A guest book for people to share their most memorable concert experience. If you, & everyone else on AM could share their favorite Violent Femmes performance, it would be something we all could enjoy very much reading, & sharing :) Take Care! Eric erycg ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ You Might Already Know This But... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I called pollstar to see what the deal is, and they confirmed the johnson and wales show in providence...the femmes are playing a day show at harvard (doors at 4:30) and the night show is in providence (doors at 9:30). the harvard show is still just for harvard folks but the fellow said that he thought the RI show was for everyone! that's all there is, there is no more! em (potatoe482) -Pat. Says: I knew one was day and the other night, but having the times really helps. Thanks. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Re: Femmes in London ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I am also going to the London concert in May; this will be the second time I see them. I'm from Iceland (everybody pull out your Atlas and locate please :-) and we seem to be very isolated from certain parts of the music world - VF included. It was virtually impossible to get anything besides "Violent Femmes", "Add it up" and "New Times" in local stores. Which is why I have bought most of my CD's in London or Vienna (where I was introduced to the VF). As I said, this is my second time at a VF concert, and I'm sure that I'm pretty much the only Icelander who's done that. You see, a trip away from Iceland is usually very expensive- especially when coming to London. Last time I was there, it cost me about IKR 50.000 (= $700). Which of course was totally worth every penny. And will be again this time. But this time I'm very lucky, Beastie Boys will be playing in London two days later, which is a sheer bonus. > I just hope they bring some T-shirts this time - they didn't have any last time If I'm not mistaken, the last time you refer to is the concert on 27/10/97 at the Forum. Well, I was also there, and had no problem acquiring at least 3 T-shirts for me and my friends in Iceland who also enjoy the Femmes. I got them at a booth, which was selling those T-shirts, but if I remember it correctly, I got them at the beginning of the concert. So it is possible that they were simply sold-out when you wanted to buy some. So I advise you to buy the T-shirts the minute you get in, just to be on the safe side. So, we all have to do something to pledge our allegiance to the Femmes. You would think that buying their music would be enough. Eirikur eirikurs ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Femmes Concert ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I just got back from the Femmes concert in Missoula, Montana. Those guys rule. They give more rock and less talk (for those familiar with Propagandhi). Also, to end the set, they played Kiss Off and put like a ten minute jam session into the middle of it. It ruled. Anyone who is going to see them soon, I'm jealous. Matt Singer FlamngLip ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Slightly Disturbed... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ okay...I am distressed...the other day, a fellow femmes fan informed me that they had a femmes cover on tape that I probably hadn't heard. I was obviously intrigued so I gave it a listen. The tape was of horrible quality but I eventually came to hear Add It Up. At the end of the horribly butchered song, I asked my friend," hey, who was that?" he snickered and replied,"Hootie and the Blowfish." all I can do is sigh. em(potatoe482) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Buy this Dude ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ No doubt in my mind, must buy the self itled album. It's the most honest album ever. There's no way it can't grab your soul and yank it out. The others are wonderfully _______ fill in the blank: musical, original, funny, religious, fun. Don't get me wrong, I love every album in it's own right. I've been hooked on '3' recently actually. But the self titled album is so beautiful. It pulls at every emotion with it's blatant honesty. This is the best album by far. I remember listening to my friend's copy at camp and I was like, what is this? And so I bought it and listened to it over and over again with Rich Kirshgeshner while handing out toilet paper and shovels at Camp Allamuchy's Red Barn which they repainted green cause the OA candidates are a bunch of shitheads in that lodge. Good thing I was in Aquoninonqe. On another note I don't know now if I will be able to go to that Harvard show now. Who the f#@* do I know with that kinda money? Those kids just make me sick. Maybe I'll just go and meet some rich prick in Harvard Square and ask them to get me a ticket or sign me in or whatever. I'll have to buy an Izod sweater or something and pull my nose up with scotch tape just like PeeWee did at the beginning of his big adventure. And finally I was thinking the other day as I was walking to Friendly's how great it would be if the Femmes did a Jane's Addiction cover. Perry Farrell and Gordon have nearly the same voice. They were both greatly influenced by Lou Reed. Hahahha, a cover of Summertime in Rome. That would be great. Yeah. Ok, bye. -Drew thenewkid -Pat. Says: OK, you're off the Harvard list for now. If you manage to find tix, I'll put you back on. Howbout the J&W show? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ RE: Faith Dance ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ << they will ALL be doing the Faith dance, >> i sure hope so! but lets just hope it doesnt get killed and turn into the macarena or the electric slide... ~shannon Fraggle3 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
