Atlanta Info Needed Carpool Release Date Single on the Edge Single on the Edge, Part 2 Single? VF Covered Sun-Ra BR's Solo Records Who Decides? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ March 29 FL Concert? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ pat, hello. how are you? okay, my qestion...i was listening to the radio and i swear the dj said something about a violent femmes show somewhere in florida tomorrow..sunday, march 29...was i mistaken?? i would call the radio station..but i don't know the phone number and information doesn't have it..so i'm shit outta luck. thanks for any help!! *dana* -Pat. Says: I didn't hear anything about it, but if anyone did, please write in..Nick could add the date to his concert listing if nothing else. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Atlanta Info Needed ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I plan on going to the Atlanta concert, but I can't figure out how to get tickets. I've checked pollstar and it seems like they don't sell them. I am completely lost in terms of getting tickets. Can anyone tell me how to get ahold of them? ,Lindsay -Pat. Says: By following the link on the Official Homepage, I found out tickets are available at Ticketmaster or charge by phone at (404)249-6400. You can also get tix without the service charge at the Cotton Club in Midtown and Roxy Theatre in Buckhead (both on nights when they have shows). There will be a limited number of tix this year, so get 'em ahead of time before they sell out. A weekend pass is $30, and the day pass is $20. If I didn't live 12 hours away, I'd love to go the entire weekend; there's a shitload of great bands. I don't know when tix go on sale, so call to find out. BTW, Pollstar only lists shows, they don't sell tix. Lindsay, write back if you want to get put on the who/where. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Carpool ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Anyone feeling the need to carpool to the INDY show, script me a msg. I live in Terre Haute, IN, and if it's on the way we could all save $$$$.....Lots of love.. Aaron ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Release Date ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Pat- i don't know if anyone else already reponded to this, but you asked about the official release date... According to New Rock 102.One, it's May 19. I haven't heard anyone else confirming that, but they stand by it. rob=) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Single on the Edge ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ the edge radio station in omaha nebraska is planning on playing the first single from the new upcoming album next week "illegaly", or at least that's what the dj's said.. any idea of what it will be?? I'll try to get back to you if i catch it... which i hopefully will! they played some new garbage last nite "illegally", it was perty cool. DOWN WITH WAYNE STATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! shane ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Single on the Edge, Part 2 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ok.. so the edge played the new femmes single.. and i forgot the title.. it was perty good tho. different than both New times (thank God) and ROCK!!!. the station is playing it all this weekend "illegally". thats it. shane ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Single? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Do you know if they are going to release a single for that freak thing?? I want to march down to the record show and get it...shhh don't tell i'm a bad boy ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ VF Covered ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Hey, this is my first time writing to AM, so what's up, people? Anyhow, to the point. Last Saturday (the 21st) I was at a punk/ska show in Millburn, NJ. BIGWIG, arguably the best local punk band in NJ, played a punked-up cover of Kiss Off. It was great: the entire hall was singing along and dancing. I guess the point of this is that the Femmes are one of the only bands who are universally accepted and loved like that. Punk and ska bands can play covers of them, and not only do they not get booed, but the entire crowd gets into it. BTW, is it true that only Fordham students can get into that show? The Femmes play so few shows in the NYC area, so there goes my hopes of seeing them. Later. -Erin Kilkenny ***check out my ska band, Evil Twin Skippy's page at http://www.angelfire.com/nj/eviltwinska*** -Pat. Says: Yes, that was a students only show, and I don't think we have any Fordham subscribers, so we'll never know what the show was like :( ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Sun-Ra ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ In a message dated 98-03-27 12:33:44 EST, you write: << Sun-Ra, man from out of space >> radical song...i rented a rad sun~ra video from umaine...must see..i like religion ruined my life.... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ BR's Solo Records ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Pat wrote: <> I also have thouroughly enjoyed BR's solo stuff. I tend to to wake up humming Let's Drink Some Wine - but Sun Ra is my other favorite. IMHO Sonic Temple is the best of the 3 full lengths - with The Blend close behind but I See a Noise a distant 3rd (it's a little too contrived for me - but I do like the whistler!) The depth of BR's talent is really showcased on Sonic Temple - not that there was ever any doubt of his abilities - I guess I just always thought of Gordon as a songwriter and not BR. Mercy Seat is also a strong effort (the last song is my favorite) but I agree it is not *that* different from various VF work. <> ABSOLUTELY!! No where else is this as true as it is in their live peformances. BR still totally captivates me when they do Dance MF Dance (and I don't particularly care for the recorded version). Or how about the emphasis vocals on Old Mother Reagan?!?? BUT there is something to be said for the "voice" as well. Gordon in the red lights singing Country Death Song --- oooh --- still sends chills down my spine! Voice & Soul-yeah ......that's what I like!!! BTW - I've been thinkin.... If VF are "Freak Magnets" as the chorus goes - I'm a, I'm a, I'm a, Freak Magnet, callin' all the Freaks on the big, big planet I'm a Freak magnet - yeah .... So if they are Freak Magnets ... does that make us FREAKS??!!! :O) Deana -Pat. Says: Please people, before I get hate mail, don't think I'm belittling Gordon's influence of the VF; it goes without saying how much he contributes to the band, and I admire and respect him tremendously. It's just that Brian's contribution was much harder to recognise until I heard his solo stuff. Soul is a good word for what he brings into the band. ATTITUDE is another. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Who Decides? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Is it true that VF don't have a set list of songs that they will play at concerts and Brian decides what they will play as the concert goes on? 1djek3 -Pat. Says: True, all true. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
