RE: When You Wish Upon a Star My Big Dream RE: To A Query Newbie/Bootlegs Bogus Headline of the Day ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Boise ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Hey! I am soooo freakin psyched to hear about the Fabulous Femmes coming back to my Boise, Idaho! I was fearing that they wouldn't come back for awhile cuz drunken people were throwin stuff at them...By the way, do you happen to know when the tickets go on sale? I will be the first in line...Last time they came, I was in the front of the stage taking pictures..out of 36, I got about 5 that turned out good...I was hoping they'd come back so I'd get some better ones since I am a photographer..I am overcome with happiness!!!! Thanks, Marie RealAllure Boise, Idaho ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ RE: Absinthe ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Geez! You'd think I could figure out how to use my computer by now. It wasn't my fault... my parents locked me in ... "After the first glass you see things as you wish they were. After the second, you see things as they are not. Finally you see things as they really are, and that is the most horrible thing in the world." -Oscar Wilde, on Absinthe How could anyone resist indulging in something Oscar Wilde described in such an alluring way? I just have to thank Marylee so much for her review of the Absinthe show in PA! I had been debating about whether to drive down to Atlanta or not but when I read her review I HAD to go. I showed it to my husband and was pleasantly shocked he offered to go with me (in the 13 years we've been together he's only agreed to go to ONE Femmes show)! Even though I had not slept in 2 days - or maybe because of that :O) - I was determined we were going to make it to the Monday show at Smith's Olde Bar. It was such a catharsis for me!! I was incredibly tense and stressed and by the third song I was totally involved in the music and feeling more relaxed than I have in weeks. Sam has always had an entrancing voice (IMHO) but the music was so different than what I had expected - deep, dark, solemn at times - sensual at times. And the music was perfectly matched with powerful, raw, emotional lyrics. I also thoroughly enjoyed watching Guy wield his sticks to this musical departure. I think part of the strength of the music was that everyone seemed so much a part of the sound - very connected & tight. Just like Marylee mentioned before, the lead guitar - Jim Eannelli - did seem as if he were in a trance at several points in the show. Oh I could go on and on but I won't (unless you email me privately & then I'll tell you more) - alas I've come to the end of the Absinthe and I see things as they really are - yes this is the Femmes list. On that note - Absinthe had a "Dahmer's Dead" in their repertoire - it's called "A little bit of hell." Um... sorry Gordon but this one had the eerie feel & lyrics the subject deserves. Very odd bit of music! Oh and I'm sure they would all roll their eyes at the mere suggestion of this, but even my husband pointed out that the bass player was a young Ritchie look-a-like. There. Guy, Brian, Gordon - now I've properly made this note Femmes related! Seriously folks - next time you're in the mood to be "in a mood" you should pick up the CD. "The green fairie who lives in the absinthe wants your soul ..." ddearry ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ RE: Absinthe ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I saw Absinthe at the Cat's Cradle in Chapel Hill, NC. I managed to pick up the CD Good Day to Die, as well. Absinthe is a MUST EXPERIENCE in my opinion. Sammy Llamas is a very talented writer and player. This music is really heart felt. The group works very well together. Everyone does a super good job. GO SEE IT!!! if they are coming around your way . . . and buy a CD their doing it all independent. Jesse jesse ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ More Money Tonight... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I just bought my ticket to the Violent Femmes in Eugene...this year is by far the best for the Femmes playing at locales that are within driving distance. And yes, I will be wearing my Mercy Seat t-shirt once again. As far as the dreams of the femmes... it would be a dream to be their agent/manager that way albums could get released more frequently.. and their material would not be influenced too much my management types... However, I did have a dream after my last post (the Seattle review)... I found a person with two more autographed drumsticks but they were autographed by Gordon and Brian. I know it doesn't make much sense to autograph drumsticks but I wanted the complete set and the whole dream was spent trying to get these sticks by any means possible... it was a fun dream. LilBoek ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Femmes related Dream... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I think I got as close to g as I'm ever going to last year (and it was FUN) soooo.... My Femmes related dream would be at the end of the show when Brian usually says, "You have been a very fine audience..." He would also say, "So fine in fact, we are now going to take a few requests. What would you guys (in my dreams he'd say y'all ) like to hear?" Either that or ... "So fine in fact I'm now going to play the Shakuhachi for two hours..." Well Pat said dreams ... Deana ddearry ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ RE: When You Wish Upon a Star ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ alright, this sounds like a really bad teen-american cliche, but if i could pick something, i would hang out with them with a few of my friends at a diner till really late with no press or cameras. i think that would be fun. ~shannon Fraggle3 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Dreams are a wish your heart makes when your high and tweaked... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ My ultimate VF dream would be to take them shopping and teach them how to color coordinate. (Well Guy can pretty much dress himself and not look like an idiot.) Oh yeah and to burn every pair of ugly pants Brian has. So if you see Brian walking around without any pants on you know what happened. Kittricken Kittricken ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ RE: When You Wish Upon a Star ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ << a) perform with them onstage or on an album. >> This has been my dream for SUCH a long time! When I was fourteen, I would sit there singing along with "Good Feeling" imagining that Gordon would pick me out of the crowd at a concert and invite me to join him in a duet. I could die happy after that... okay, maybe I could die happy after that AND singing with Tori Amos, but hey, I'll take what I can get! << Plus, if I could travel for a full year, that would mean that I had enough money to live the lifestyle to which I would like to become accustomed. >> I think there should be a stipulation in g that this doesn't automatically mean you're rich; it just means that you won some radio contest or something and you might live in spartan conditions as you tour the world with Our Femmes. Even in this case, G runs a close second to A! Claire Lottelita ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ My Big Dream ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ a dream I would like to see fufilled...hmmm... well, I've always wanted to meet the band, and ever since I started going to their shows, I started writing requests to meet the boys. I've been to a whole mess of their shows, but have yet to meet them. I tried everything! My most recent attempt occured at the beginning of February, as I'm going to the rhode island, mass, and possibly N.Y and PA shows, and wanted to give them plenty of time to respond. As I know the band is busy, I e-mailed and snail-mailed(<--my personal fave...) the femmes, their record company, their manager, etc...I've tried EVERYTHING!! Even trying to sneak backstage....but alak..to no avail. Any advice would be appreciated! your distraught friend :( em potatoe482 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ RE: To A Query ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ >Does anybody else compose their posts to amusic while naked? Guilty. Erik"36" Foisy thehappycyclops ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Newbie/Bootlegs ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I have a lot of bootlegs in my collection- but not any of the Violent Femmes. I LOVE them but i can't find any bootlegs of them so I was wondering if anyone out there is willing to help me iwht some 2:1's or 1:1's or something from my list which is here- http://members.xoom.com/Subaddict/ it is mostly Bob Dylan but there ARE others thanks a lot -Mike SUBADDICT ps- i am going to call etown college AGAIN (for like the 3rd time) tonight (mabye the radio station this time...) and try to find out any info on the concert ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Bogus Headline of the Day ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The following story is FALSE. BATTLE RAGES ON: VICTOR RESPONDS (AP)-In response to Dennis Rodman's recent shocking announcement of his desire to join the popular rock group the Violent Femmes, Victor DeLorenzo, former drummer for the band, called his own news conference Sunday. "Dennis is only dreaming. In fact, it is I who will become the fourth member of the band." Mr DeLorenzo also stated,"There simply is no such thing as too many drummers...Every band should have at least two. I think there should be bands with nothing BUT drummers!" He further stated "Besides, this move would rejuvinate and then settle for all time the Great Victor VS Guy debate." In related news, Violent Femmes management reportedly have retreated to the planet Saturn in order to avoid the press. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
