I just called the number for Wayne State, and I have a clarification. Apparently, only students can *procure* the tickets, but once a student has a ticket, s/he can do anything s/he likes with it. In other words, how can I get ahold of a Wayne State student?!?!? I looked all over the official school web page, but I couldn't find any listing of student home pages or anything. Does anyone have any info about this? I'm still so mad I had to miss the Femmes last time they were in Iowa...I would definitely drive all the way to Nebraska to see them................... I don't think that's realistically possible. The 9:30 club is a few blocks from the U Street-Cardoza Metro stop, but Metro stops running at midnight, and since the doors don't open for the show until 9PM, the the Femmes may not even have *started* by midnight, let alone finished. You just about *have* to drive there. bec ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ RE: 930 Club Info Needed ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ this is for jess: your energy and enthusiasm is so contagious! yipes your cute! i hope everything works out with the show---you'll have sooooooooooo much fun! i remember my first show my friend and i counted down the hours like 4 days prior to the event! have fun! emily :) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ RE: Max Dunn ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ >Does anyone know of any titles or where I can get ahold of some Max >Dunn Poetry? I was wondering the same thing myself a few months ago, because 'I Danced' is my second fave song off of Rock!!!!! (my first fave is 'Sweet Worlds of Angels'). Anyway, I went digging over a period of 3 weeks through several places. I went to 3 damn big book stores, and they had nothing by Dunn in stock or in their catalogues. So then I went on the net, and found absolutley zero on Dunn. He wasn't even listed in this giant poets index site I found, or in any of the five encyclopedias I checked. So then I went to my English teacher (she use to teach college English). She had never heard of Dunn or his poem. So after all of this I have formulated this conclusion: Dunn probably never did too much writing (since there's nothing out there about him or by him), and 'I Danced Before I had two feet' was probably one of the few pieces he ever wrote to be published. It probably caught Gordan's eye when he was reading some obscure poetry anthology or something. It's a shame if this is true, because I would like to read some more by Dunn. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ RE: Phantom Tribute Album ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Got the chance to look at old issues, and here's the info on that 'tribute album': it is not a tribute album. It is a soundtrack for the movie 'Hitting the Ground'. Gordon wrote the songs for this soundtrack, and some great musicians recorded them. It should be coming out on Mercury Records, sometime this year, but I see nothing about it on the Mercury homepage. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ New Album Please ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ for some strange reason i was under the impression that bands make albums. i don't know, maybe it's just me, but that's what i thought. i also thought that they had almost done last march. that was a long time ago. by the way, are they gay? just kidding. any new album info will be much appreciated. love and fine malt liquer, SEBASTIAN -Pat. Says: I'm not positive about this, but it's been said by many, including the band, that they have an unfortunate history of being bound by record companies which don't give them the proper respect. That's why ROCK! was not released by an American company. I'd guess that Interscope (or whichever) wants one thing from them, and the band wants to do another. Thus the delay. This struggle for artistic freedom is a common complaint among many, if not most, bands. That's why there's so many indie labels, which allow the artists their freedom. If there weren't, we'd be stuck with the mega companies, and we'd probably still be listening to classic rock and disco. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
