Victor & Buddy Holly Harmony Joy Ride ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ RE: Hammerstein ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ hammerstein was postponed until oct......i just realized that means i can't see the show....i won't be living in nj next year cause of college, this isn't good. ChewVitC ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ RE: Viva the Violent Femmes! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ << Ritchie: We've gone through many new generations since we started. It's very gratifying to look out there and see young kids. Rock and roll really is music for youth. We're adults; I don't listen to very much rock music anymore. I listen to classical and other age-appropriate music like jazz. >> This comment kind of bothers me because I am about the same age as Brian and I still like Rock n Roll!!! (He can play it but he can't listen to it? ) I wonder what other aging rockers listen too. Next week I'm going to see The Pretenders. Chrissie is over 10 years older than Brian, maybe I can get backstage and ask her what she listens to. I hope it's Rock n Roll!!! Monica MonMcM ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Victor & Buddy Holly ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Received this in my e-mail today, thought others might be interested: New Buddy Holly tune performed MILWAUKEE (AP) - A new tune created from lyrics Buddy Holly scribbled in a notebook is being performed nearly 41 years after the rock and roll legend's death in a plane crash. Milwaukee drummer Victor DeLorenzo, formerly with the Violent Femmes, said he first saw the notebook page in 1996, while visiting in New York with record executive Howard Thompson, who had bought the page at auction. On a later visit, DeLorenzo said he took a closer look at the writing and decided it was Holly's attempt at lyrics to a song that was never completed. Applying his own song-writing logic, he deciphered the repeated last line of the chorus as "You get me in dutch," "My whole idea was not to add anything," DeLorenzo said. When he got home to his studio, he soon had the music for the lyrics written. "It was like my mind was in possession of Mr. Holly for 10 minutes." DeLorenzo planned to perform it this weekend but said he has no plans to release a recording of the song. Chris Hatch chrishatch -Pat. Says: I can't believe this, but my local newspaper picked up this story. If you'd ever seen my paper, you'd know how amazing that is. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Harmony Joy Ride ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This message was written under the influence of Wesley Willis. He is my rock star. One of the first things I did when I got back to school was sign up for a volunteer DJ position at the radio station. My first show of the semester was a couple days ago. The thing that started my Harmony Joy Ride was my realization that we had four Wesley Willis CDs. I was ecstatic. I thought the rest of the night was going to be a Spooky Disharmonious Conflict Hell Ride. But it wasn't. As soon as I got a chance, I was rummaging through the free stuff bin, and I found a Beck - Midnite Vultures poster (it's a great, great CD). I couldn't believe my good fortune! Then, and this is the real kicker, the assistant GM comes in, and we start talking, and I asked him about Freak Magnet, and he said, "Oh, yeah, I think we already got it." And then he GAVE it to me for free! It's not the year-old promo disc, either (which I already have)! He said something about how we're a college station, and we should play the lesser-known bands or something, but I wasn't really listening. Freak Magnet will rock your socks off. It is my kind of music. The Violent Femmes are my kind of band. They can really rock. Rock over London, Rock On, Chicago; Folger's -- it's good to the last drop. sammyd ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
