The song Confessions from Violent Femmes sounds surprisingly like Ballad of a Thin Man from Highway 61 Revisited, Bob Dylan. If you have the Dylan album listen to the song then listen to Confessions. The words are entirely different, but the music is the same. Well, one is distinctly Dylan's style and one is distinctly VF's but it is the same.....I don't know enough about music to say what is the same about them, just listen. Nearby, there was a housing district, and some of the walls had graffiti in English. Pink Floyd...Soundgarden...KoRn...Nirvana...Violent Femmes!!! That made me so happy! Also, once in high school I was watching Channel 1, the mandatory TV news show, and they had an interview in (I think) Bosnia. When asked what kind of music these war-stricken teenagers were listening too, they said "Violent Femmes!" I wonder...has anyone else had these kinds of experiences while abroad? No one responded. I'd like to revive that question. Does anyone know about this?
