The show was my 2nd best Femmes show ever. Well I went with about 8 of my friends, many of which attended our first show ever 6 years ago when we were freshmen in high school. We got to the show early so we had a lot of time to wander around. Me and my friend Johnny were sure Pat was there because we recalled that she was from Pennsylvania-- so for every middle aged woman we passed we would yell out "PAT" but we never found you --- at least 2 times when I met Gordon after shows in Indiana and in Kentucky I asked him to play 'Flamingo Baby' when the band was in Philly-- same deal with all my boyz in various other states-- we brought a plastic flamingo to a show last summer-- later Guy told us that he just didn't understand what the flamingo meant-- man! that guy is pretty strange... So at this show my friend and I were debating if they would open up with Dig-blues or Out the Window---- well it wasn't either it was Flamingo Baby and Gordon said it was for those guys who are always begging to hear it-- so we felt pretty much like king shit at that moment and then rocked out with the rest of the show--- They played "CANDLE LIGHT SONG" which was amazing -- and "I HEAR THE RAIN"... To Hear these songs was incredible.. I think I once read that Candle light is the Femmes favorite song to play in concert- Brian was making all the zippy noises with his hands and mouth--- Later he played this electronic ball type thing-- just bringing his hands close to it so it would produce funky sound waves-- he used it for Kiss Off. We all met up with them at the end of the show, got a picture with Gordon and thanked them for playing Flamingo... The best part about the show was that the femmes were Happy-- I mean the place was alive with good vibes and the crowd was singin' along. Thats all for now- Later-- ROB K. rkalmbac -Pat. The electronic ball type thing is a theramin. You can find kits to make theramins online, but they usually look like boxes. Funny you should have used the phrase "Good Vibes", because the Beach Boys used a theramin as well.
