Boathouse Show RE: Guy the Artist RE: He Saw ME in the Crowd ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Coach House Show ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I just looked on the Coach House's official website. There are gonna be TWO Femmes shows. Both on the 31st. At 7 and 9:30. Tickets are 22.50 and they expect to sell out. Nick mypen15 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Going to SF Show on the 28th of JAN. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Looking for other Silicon Valley fans to get together with before, during, and after SF SHOW. Stepheno ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Boathouse Show ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ First of all I am sorry that I did not get this in for Monday's issue, I am human, what can I say. As you all know I have asserted in previous issues that the Boathouse is a superior place than most to see the Violent Femmes. This show was of course no exception to my claim, however I do have one problem with the show, and it has nothing to do the the Femmes, it was the crowd. I am completely unimpressed with the average Femmes concert goer. The thing that really bothered me, was that during Good Feeling, a soft, sensitive and expressive song, the crowd was louder then the Femmes. This really made me upset. I could not believe that these people would disrespect the band this much. All they wanted to do was mosh and crowd surf. I would also wonder if anyone else has experienced this same frustration with the crowd? Alright, now that I have expressed my disdain about the concert, let me share my praise with you as well. The thing that impressed me the most is that through all these years the Femmes have never lost touch with their audience. Every person that was there could truly relate to the music. High Schoolers and adults alike could share in the experience. This showed me that the Violent Femmes are a timeless band, but the Femmes did seem a little more disorganized then usual, but that always varies from show to show. Also there were no extra musicians, I.E. the horns of dilemma. Brian played the harmonica during Black Girls which was pretty cool. Also no Dance M.F. intro, I guess Brian might be tired of thinking. One of the more interesting moments of the show was when the Femmes covered the Bob Dylan song Positively 4th Street, and then began Bob's classic Mr. Tambourine man, only to go right into Blister in the Son. Gordon also gave us a preview of New Year's Eve with his rendition of Olde Lang Zane (I hope I spelled that right) Then after the show I waited outside in the freezing cold in my shorts to speak to Gordon. I got sick but it was worth it. All in all this was not the best show I have ever seen, but non the less, it was incredible. I would encourage anyone who can see the Femmes at the Boathouse to do it, trust me. Thanks Travis WAQZ84A ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ RE: Guy the Artist ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ >I have a shirt Guy designed...it is a weird one with eyes and stuff. ??? sounds neat..i like eyes...any art with eyes in it is worth looking at!
