A Few Misc. Femmes Thoughts

Toad’s Place
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
so i went to the show on june 19th at toad’s place and one of the
opening bands was the double dong band. definitely crazy. sorry i
didn’t write about the show at all but i really don’t know what to
write and i don’t remember all the songs they played. i know they
started with out the window and they played kiss off for the encore.
they also played black girls, add it up, ugly, please do not go, prove
my love, gone daddy gone, hey nonny nonny, confessions, mm i don’t
remember what else. but it was an awesome show. it was the first time
i have ever been to a femmes concert and i really had a good time even
though i was in the blocked off 21 and under section. but that’s okay,
it was still fun. there actually weren’t that many people there so
everyone was able to get pretty close to the stage, which was cool, but
it’s not like toad’s place is that big anyway. the only problem was
that there was no parking!! ok, so just to let everyone know the
concert was awesome!!
adios,
erin
I’m going to get to see the Femmes twice in one weekend. YAY!
(Bumbershoot up in Seattle, then back down to Portland to catch them
here.)
A question for y”all: Last time the Femmes were in this neck of the
woods on their own (they did a radio station X-mas concert last year,
I’m not counting that) they played La Luna in Portland and the
Paramount in Seattle. Now it’s showing them at the Rose Garden in
Portland?!? I’ve never considered them an amphitheater type band, and
they’ve always just done larger sized clubs. Is this a trend the boys
are taking, or does it mean they’re playing with others who are
amphitheater-type?
A Few Misc. Femmes Thoughts
I think Bill’s (VfPONY) suggestion is a great one. Another show just
for those of us who can’t make the ampitheater ones! Bill, if you get
it arranged, let me know! =)
But seriously, is anyone that is going to the Marcus show planning on
booting? I’ve done Marcus shows before, security is not that tight.
If anyone is thinking about it, email me I’d love to work out a trade
with you.
Second, I think we all owe Deana one HUGE thank you, even before we
all get the much-anticipated copies of the compilation. She really
spent a lot of time on that, I’m sure. So, on behalf of all of us,
THANK YOU DEANA!!!
And finally, someone asked if the Femmes themselves are members of
this list… I don’t have a definite answer, but I know that I’ve
talked about the list with Brian on several occasions, and even gave
him the addresses to sign-up for the list (this is back when Neil and
James used to run it) because he had expressed an interest in seeing
what we were talking about.
-Pat. Says: I’d imagine what with all the touring they do, it’d be
hard to keep up with the list, and think of the annoyance
of coming back after weeks on the road to find your
mailbox full of AM! At any rate, it shouldn’t really matter
if anyone is surreptitiously listening or not. I mean,
I would hate for any of you to edit your thoughts on the
slim chance that one of them is reading. Think of all the
strange and kinky dreams we would have missed reading!
