RE: GPB Soundtrack..What to Get Next?

I have a reply on two accounts, both of wich have been discussed plenty,
but, hey, i need to put my 10 cents in. So here goes:
1) Saw, and absulutely loved Gross Point Blank, it’s no cinematographic
masterpiece, but it is one kick-ass cool movie. I went out and bought
the soundtrack the next day after seeing the movie and played it to
death, aside from two Blisters there is also Los Fabullos Cadillcs’
“matador”, which is an awesome song, and a bunch of other very cool
’80’s stuff
2) About the Femmes albums here’s my list ( 1 is the most favorite):
1. Why do birds sing
2. Three
3. Hallowed Ground
4. Violent Femmes
5. new Times
6. Blind Leading the Naked
7. Rock!!!!!
8. Add it up
9. Machine the single ( has couple of other songs on it)
I guess that’s it, although it’s up to you if you want to spend money on
all of them you definetly MUST have Three, Why do birds, and Violent
Femmes

RE: Ages
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
What is the average age of people who listen to the Femmes. In the
beginning it was mostly a teenage- 20s group. most of the people I’ve
seen at concerts are in the 14-25 range, but this is 16 years after the
Femmes debuted, so you’d think their following would now be mostly the
30-40 year set. However, like all good music, Femmes music has the power
to cross generations and remain popular (much like the Beatles or Pink
Floyd). Gordon once said in an interview :’One thing I’ve noticed over
the years is that, as I got older, the people coming to our shows were
getting younger’. Femmes music obviously appeals strongly to the 12-17
set. So I’d say the average age is around there, but there are many many
people in there 30s and 40s that still love the Femmes.
GK
-Pat. Says: A poll taken a few months ago gave an average age of about
20. It was a very unscientific poll; I was the oldest
person to respond (I was 36 then), and I know several people
on this list are my age and older. If they had responded
they would have skewed the poll up a bit.
<< I am only 17 years old and have been a Femmes fan for only about a
year. Well, my point is that only a few other people in my high
school listen to the Violent Femmes. What are the ages of the
majority of the fans? Am I a minority in the VF world only being 17? >>
I’m 15, and the people who introduced me to the femmes were 14 and 15 at
the time (they are now older, obviously). I think a lot of teens know of
songs like BITS, Add It Up, Gone Daddy Gone, etc., but if they don’t have
nifty friends or older siblings or anything, they might never realize
that the femmes have so much more to offer. again i reiterate: the
femmes make a great holiday gift! if you’re in high school especially,
give copies of your favorite albums to your friends; they will love it!
In reply to the age thing.. I’m 17, and an avid lover of the FEMMES.. ,
and even though the teenage following here is limited, the people who
listen to the Femmes, LOVE THEM!!! I don’t really know any middle of the
road people, I found someone who owned an album other than “Add It Up”,
and that person was DYING to go see the Femmes.. We went together
(Nov. 8) and saw one of the most brilliant shows either of us has ever
seen. The teenage following might not be excessively huge, but the ones
who listen, love.
Lyrics Questions
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Here’s a question about lyrics: Can anyone submit lines from VF songs
which have been taken from other songs or sources?
Here’s another question: Do you think that when Gordon writes ‘They said
breakin’ up they said it’s hard to do’ he’s referring to the old song
‘Breaking Up is Hard to Do’ by.. shit I forgot who did it. AAARRRGGGHHH
man I can see his face.. Neil Sedaka that’s it!(I am sooo good)
