I warned you, didn’t I? Maybe you didn’t believe I was really back and
ready to post AM in all its glorious former frequency. The welcome form
letter is at the end of this issue, as there weren’t many submissions
over these past two days. Those of you who have not yet seen it should

Femmes In Chicago

Q101 in Chicago is saying that the Violent Femmes will be playing a
free concert at Excalibur in downtown Chicago. It will be on the
Mancow show Friday morning, the 29th. I’d love to give more details,
but this just came out of the blue, and there isn’t much time before
the appearance.

those of you who want to check it out, go to:

You will need the proper plug-in to listen, so you would
be well-advised to be sure you can hear the show ahead of
time. The Mancow show is Monday-Friday, from 5:30-10:00
AM. Just remember to adjust your time zone.

Could I Have Commissioned a VH1 Special on the Femmes????

FYI…..I am not entirely sure that this is true, but….I have a
friend who works in production at VH1, I was recently getting on his
case regarding the fact that we have never seen a damn thing on VH1 on
the Femmes….we’ve seen Quiet Stinkin’ Riot, but NEVER the Femmes….

He agreed with me, and about a week later (10/18) he told me that the
Femmes were recording a “Hard Rock Live” special in Manhattan that
evening. They have not yet set an air date for this hour-long special,
but he promised to keep me posted (and I, in turn will keep you
posted).

Jusy thought you’d like to know………….(let’s cross our fingers
and hope this is true!!!)

Dating Days

I know you don’t run a dating service, But I’m in the process of a
divorce, and realized ALL our friends are HER friends and I need new
ones.
I’m a 29 year old male, with 3 children, in the Duluth, MN area. Anyone
from the area can find me at “Nobody” and “Average Sun” shows. And of
course VF has been my favorite band since about 1983.

Hi!
I have a 2 cd r set of the Femmes live in Milwaukee 8/19/99. Of course
it’s a soundboard recording, of the entire Femmes set, & with nice
color packaging/insert. I’d be happy to trade it for anything Femmes
related except cassettes. I’d really love to find more concert videos of
them! 🙂

Welcome to American Music: the Violent Femmes mailing list.

The mailing list goes out almost every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday,
and is used to discuss the Violent Femmes, and anything that has
anything to do with them. If you want to respond to something that
somebody on the list has said, or say something new, please email me
(amusic) with the message.
You are encouraged to contribute a message whenever you have something
to say. I do ask you to please observe a couple of ground rules.
Number 1, please do not conduct flame wars over this list. If you have
a problem with a specific subscriber, please address him or her
personally.
Number 2, I check the Official Home Page, Pollstar, and Ticketmaster
frequently, and post a complete listing of shows on Mondays. At times
when there are a lot of tour dates, Wednesday and Friday issues list
only that week’s shows. Please do not ask if the Femmes will be playing
in your area. If however you find out about a show in your area which I
have not listed, please let me know, so I can add it to the show list.
Number 3, please do not ask questions about the band members’ private
lives. Facts about their lives which they themselves have already
publicly discussed are OK, and general-type questions too, but I believe
that they have a right to privacy, and I will protect that privacy.
Number 4, feel free to check the Official homepage and the Unofficial
homepage for answers to basic questions.
