would like the following: Any good Brian Ritchie CD’s, any good bootlegs
with hopefully unrecorded music on it… or covers, American Music,
Singles: Do you Really want to Hurt Me?, I held her in my Arms, Tonight,
Used to Be, plus anything else i may be unaware exists, CD’s only please.
As trade, Alden offers a bootleg of this summer’s Waukesha show, good
quality.

——————-
Would like boots of the following shows:
9/95 Maritime Days
1/96 Winterfest, Icehouse (first show)
7/4/96 Summerfest, Marcus Amphitheatre
8/97 Waukesha County Fair
Plus, I know there was a guy with a video camera at the Winterfest show.

———————–
Wanted: a copy of Film Noir: I have a good quality ’89 show at the
Metro in Chicago to offer in trade…or if anyone else is interested,
i could go for some more femmes material!

——————
Does anyone have any boots from one of those shows that brian ritchie
has taken part in ??? i don’t think he played out to support his
albums..? well anyway an outside of the femmes brian ritchie musical
exhibition would be just peachy to feed my ears and i have some femmes
stuff to trade for it. (i cannot communicate today ughh silly fingers)

——————-
I would love to buy a violent femmes poster, not the new crappy
posters but an old one, It does not have to be super old but before
New Times. I will also offer free copies of “The Mercy Seat” to all
who ask.

——————
I’m new to this list and I joined it after I saw the Femmes at the Lisle
gig in IL. I’m wondering if anyone on the list was there and recorded
the concert. If so, please contact me privately. I would like to arrange
a sale.

————————
I would like to buy a copy of “The Blind Leading The Naked” either on
tape or CD from someone who lives in England (because that is where I
live, too). Sadly I have nothing to offer in return except cold,
hard cash. Alternatively, does anyone know of a record shop which is
likely to be able to get it for me. All the ones I have tried say
that it is no longer available.

Folks, I should have broken Friday’s issue into two parts, but because
I didn’t, some of you may not have received that issue. I think that’s
why so few people wrote in for today’s issue. If you did not get Friday’s
issue, and would like to have it, please email me, and it’ll be sent right
to you, in two parts this time. A friendly reminder: If at any time you
do not get an issue on the regularly scheduled Monday, Wednesday, or
Friday, please email me, and I’ll get it out to you.

my top 5 favorite songs sadly does not include the femmes, but here
they are.
1. anarchy in the u.k.-sex pistols
2. drug me-dead kennedys
3. love buzz-nirvana
4. urban struggle-the vandals
5. killing in the name of-rage against the machine

RE: Musical Tastes..Loud Concerts
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Okay. I too would like to list some of my fave bands/singers, just
because… well, because I never post anything, and here’s something I
can actually post about.. 🙂
Here goes (in no particular order):
Violent Femmes (oh really)
Alanis Morissette
J Mascis/Dinosaur Jr
You am I
Juliana Hatfield
Belly
And there’s heaps more, but I’ll end here (the list, that is). Out of
this list, I’ve only seen two live, I.e. You am I and Dinosaur Jr.
They were both cool but both VERY loud. It amazes me sometimes that
bands always seem to make so much more noise playing live than that
they make on their CD’s (even with the stereo turned up fully) I’m not
a very regular concert goer, so maybe I’m just being ignorant. But I
often prefer the CD to a live performance, just ‘coz they make so much
noise I can’t even hear them (does that make sense?).
Anyhoo. Maybe the Femmes live are different? I don’t know, but if they
ever decide to come to jolly ol’ England again, I’ll certainly go see
them. I didn’t get to go to the concert in London 🙁 It was on a
Wednesday, and it just proved impossible to get down to London and
back on a weekday evening… too bad. I’ll have to be patient and wait
till next year.
Cheers,
Esther
-Pat. Says: Most concerts are very loud, including those by the VF. I
have taken to wearing earplugs. Uncool perhaps, but I used
to work in a nightclub, and I think my hearing is already
somewhat damaged as a result of that. I know it takes about
2 days after a concert for my hearing to recover without the
plugs, and some frequencies are extremely painful to me, like
screaming car brakes, of which there seemed to be a lot in
London. Better to be careful than to go deaf at some point
down the road.
RE: Musical Tastes
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Well let me just say that I really enjoy knowing what everyone else
listens to. It’s nice to now that many of us listen the same things, but
do we really need to start bashing “90’s trash” or “alternative” music?
We all agree that we can’t classify the femmes in any one category, right?
So who feels the need to bash categories or types of music that some
people may enjoy. Please voice your opinions ’cause I love it, but
everyone does not feel the same :0)

RE: Easy To Find Rock
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Everyone seems to be thinking it is difficult to find a copy of
ROCK!!! I have only been a vf fan for about eight months and ROCK!!!
is one of the first that I got. Just check their official web page
in the merchadise section. They sell it for only $12.50 including
s/h.
RE: X-Country and the VF
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hi Everyone…I just wanted to comment on Violent Femmes/Cross Country
issue…I think it’s great that there is a strong tie with X-country and
VF…I was a swimmer and everyone on swim team also listened to the
Femmes…Are there any other swimmers out there who have experienced the
relationship with the Femmes?
