i heard the talking heads are getting back together without lead singer
david bryne and are now just “The Heads.” i also heard from an unreliable
source that Gordan Gano was going to be the new lead singer. has anybody
heard the same? also, does anybody cosider the talking heads to be one of
there favorite bands as i do. this to me would be like a dream come true.
there is a relation between the two bands though. one a the talking heads
members helped produce the femmes’s “Blind Leading the Naked.”

Hello,

Regarding ‘World Without Mercy’ it was never released on the CD…ironicaly
it was a cassette only track (maybe vinal too…I dunno.) Though
non-American releases of Blind Leading The Naked do include the track…I
have a U.K. version of the disc upon which it was included…the vocalist
is Victor DeLorenzo.

I completely disagree with the earlier sentiment that Rock pales in
comparison to New Times…Oh, Ilike New Times…I have everything the
Femmes ever recorded…I will always like what they produce…But Rock!!!!!
is such a throwback to the earliest style of Femmes music…it has a
rawness on it which their first album has…Songs like Tonight and Dahmer’s
Dead…most of the album…are just fantastic…whereas the last 5 songs or
so of New Times come off as..well..awkward sometimes…

I put too much thought into the Femmes for my own good.

yes, Blind Leading the Naked has a bonus track on the cassete version, I
hate this becuase I’m a CD person so I had to get this on tape poor me 🙁
I believe Brian Rithcie did the vocals, I don’t think there’ much more to tell

actually, I think it was MARC bolan who wrote it, he was a member of T REX
way back when, I believe it was their song, a shitty metal band called WWIII
did a cover of it also

hey, what’s the story. I know you have life to , but I haven’t received
ROCK since the 7th!!!! Sorry for complaining, but tonight, the 27th, the
FEMMES and TMBG are playing together in Albany an here I am on lonely
Long Island, 300 some odd miles away. But according to the August 22
issue of Rolling Stone, the FEMMES are playing at Irving Plaza in NYC.
But the lovely ad doesn’t say WHEN they’re playing !!!!!! So, I joined
the Irving Plaza mailing list to find out when there playing. But since
the ad was in a August publication, they might of already played. But I
have hope because I went to the Irving Plaza web page and looked at the
show played during the summer and they weren’t on it. So all the New
York Femmes fans, pray that VF’s haven’t played yet. Also, if anyone
knows how I can get the album ‘ROCK’ without having to order it from
Australia or Europe, please mail me and tel me how. Here a quote:

that track, which IS called World Without Mercy, is on the european (well,
british, at least) version of the CD. it was written by victor delorenzo, who
also did the vocals on it. i don’t think it was on the original vinyl, which i
suppose is why it wasn’t included on the US CD.

they’re currently with Interscope, and should have a new album out RealSoonNow
(not soon enough for me!). they had just been dropped by elektra in the US when
they made Rock!!!!! in australia to promote their australian tour, since it had
been so long
since they had released “New Times.”

isregarding completely the merits of the album, or what it sounds like to you,
it actually
WAS done in about a week of studio time. originally, it was supposed to be just
a
5-track EP, but they were on a roll and after a week in the studio had enough
material for a full CD.

marc bolan wrote it for his band T. Rex, i think in the late 70’s. i’ve never
heard it — they only ever play the femmes version on the radio.
