Vf was supposed to play at The Damn Show here in Phoenix on Sept 18th
with a bunch of other bands. The show was scheduled form 12:00 noon to
11:00 pm. I didn’t want to see any of the other bands so I was not
going to go just to see a short set by the Femmes. I also did not want
to be out in the sun all day and the radio station that was the sponser
could not tell me what time the Femmes would go on. Anyway I found out
the the Femmes left the stage during their first song because “the
kids” were throwing stuff at them. So I didn’t miss much. I am so glad
I did’t waste my money to hear half a song. I hope that it’s not too
long before they return and play by themselves.

AM Popularity

This dispute on whether AM’s popular or not is beyond me. I hear it on
the radio once every few months – I guess I’m just lucky here in San
Diego. And wasn’t BITS in the running? Seems like that woulda made
the top 100.

-Pat. Says: You are lucky in San Diego. Blister was not released in the
90’s, and so doesn’t qualify.

RE: That Poll
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
what is this music poll everyone keeps talking about? i live in
columbus ohio so i do not get that station. i have to admit that the 2
radio stations we have do not play much from any of the femmes albums
except for the first one. you will hear blister in the sun at least
twice a day. i like the song but the femmes have other great songs as
well.
RE: A Story Question
<<-Pat. Says: They just CAN’T get rid of A Story; it’s my youngest
son’s favorite song on the whole album!>>
One of my favorites too. I was wondering if anyone knows what the
monster is saying after “You should’ve thought of that before” ? I
can’t understand it and if I don’t find out what it really is, I’ll
make up my own words – and they usually make no sense at all.
For once… I actually agree!!! Especially about the remakes of their
songs. Those and A story, and that damn punk song are what ruined it
for me…hopefully they will wise up and change a few things before
releasing it!!!
Reply to Andrea About the ‘Breakin Up’ Promo CD
I recently found a copy of the ‘Breakin Up’ cd on ebay and I really
enjoy it. It includes 4 tracks. Peter Jest is very diferent and not one
of my favorites but the version of ‘Diggeriblues’ is excellent. It is
very different fom the album version in that it is much slower and that
the lyrics really stand out. One of my all time Femmes favorites. As
for Freak Magnet, I also like the songs ‘Yes oh Yes’ and ‘Requiem’
along with ‘Bad’ and ‘Freak Magnet’. As for ‘A Story’ , I sometimes
enjoy it and other times not so much but like Pat, my kids love it as
well. It shows the diversity of Gordons song writing abilities and the
appeal across the generations of the femmes music.
Hi All!
I was listening for hurricane news last Friday to WBZ (1030am Boston)
and I heard a David Brudnoy promo using the intro to Blister In the
Sun. Brudnoy is a nationally syndicated staunch conservative radio talk
show host.
Its hard to believe that he would be listening to the Femmes! A tad
shocking I’d say.
Don’t know if I should be impressed that the Femmes have crossed lines
or depressed the main stream conservatives are on the same wave
length.
