Everytime I find a new webside or program for finding music, I will do
a search for the Femmes. I don’t think I’ve ever found more than 5 of
there songs at one place, but just the other day I found “Violent
Femmes – Sedated Ramones Cover”. At first I didn’t think it was real
and still not sure, cause the singer sounds alot like Gordon and has
abit of his whiny signature.

Anyone know about the Ramones Cover Song, Sedated?
Or anyother cover song they have done?

-Pat. Says: I downloaded this from Napster, and don’t believe it is
the VF. I also have not heard about a Ramones Tribute
album. Napster also had what was supposed to be the
Violent Femmes singing “Video Killed the Radio Star”. I
don’t think so. I think what is happening is people have
these mp3’s but don’t know who’s singing them, and take a
stab at who it is. I’d look into it more, but I have to
pack for a weekend in Connecticut. Somebody who isn’t so
busy could check into this and get back to us. Wish me luck
on the dreaded 5 hour drive, and pray I don’t run into any
mosquitoes on my way through New York!

RE: Peter Jest

<< I know the Femmes have a
tune called Peter Jest that was on one of those impossible to find
singles, but i don’t think I’ll ever hear it! >>

I bought the single with Peter Jest on it. I was actually disappointed
when I got it because it is purely instrumental and remined me a lot of
Vancouver (which I don’t formally recognize as a Violent Femmes tune
because I like it very little). But, on that same single is a more
blues oriented version of Didgeriblues that makes it worth the buy. I
just kept checking Ebay and it shows up every once in a long while..
Keep your eyes open.

PS: It’s the Breakin’ Up 4-track single.

Hey guys!
I’ve got a few little things I’ve been meaning to post .
First, for Rob (and everyone else) you can see part of the All I Want
Video online through a link on MTV’s website:
http://www.mtv.com/sendme.tin?page=http://www.mtv.com/mtv/bands_az/v/
violent_femmes/index.html

Second, are any of you familiar with the digital club network? Here’s
what they say about themselves,
“The Digital Club Network (http://www.digitalclubnetwork.com) is the
largest webcaster of live music in the world, continuously streaming
and archiving performances by emerging and established artists from the
world’s top music venues. New shows are presented each night, with
rebroadcasts and on-demand archives available throughout the day,
providing fans with access to previously unavailable live performances
24 hours a day, 7 days a week. ”
So anyway – I was looking for an archived show for Bright Eyes and
stumbled onto the El Destroyo set from the Femmes 2nd night at the 9:30
club in DC (4/18/00). So I’m thinking if they were broadcasting the
opening band – the technology and the people were there – why didn’t
they broadcast the Femmes set??? Should we assume the Femmes wouldn’t
allow it? Am I the only one frustrated with the Femmes use of current
technology – or rather the lack of use? The website was cool – back in
1994! Give me some flash and keep it updated – yeah? Argh!! Ok – back
to the subject at hand – the archived El Destroyo set on DCN – Brian
played drums with them both nights so some of you might enjoy watching
it. You won’t be able to see the wooden shoes Brian was wearing that
night but it’s cool none the less. Oh and if you hear a girl scream
“Nice Butt!” I swear it was Danica – not me! ;o)

Third thing – and this one’s for the serious fans- would someone
please check out Johnny Cash’s “Orange Blossom Special” and get back
to me? I’m wonderin’ if it’s just me…

Thanks for your support!
Deana
