Yes, I know I promised this Monday. I did not expect to come down with
a stomach virus, nor that I would have to rush my son to the emergency
room with an excruciating earache on Sunday night. Didn’t get home till
2:30a.m., and missed out on a excellent South Australia grenache/siraz.
Charlotte is…strange. Excellent restaurants, but try to find a funky-
bohemian district. Just try, I dare you. Plus, have you ever been in
the middle of a large city to find you’re the ONLY person walking
outside? It’s like twilight zone man.
On the upside, I will be eternally grateful to Brixx Pizza for helping
me discover McLaren Vale Tatachilla, and to Manifest Records for having
in their stacks used CD’s of the Gufs, PJ Harvey, and Pietasters, all
three for $15.
Now, let the discussion resume….

Summerfest Pictures

OK, if anyone is interested, I shot a roll of film during the
Summerfest concert with an expensive camera that I borrowed (ahh, the
perks of working at a camera store…), and a lot of them turned out
pretty good. So I put them on Kodak Photonet (ahh, another perk), and
you’re certainly more than welcome to check them out – just follow the
directions below. They’ll be up and available until Aug 21…

You’re not hallucinating – there is indeed a tape-only bonus track on
TBLT. It is a nice, slowish tune called World Without Mercy that if I
remember correctly is sung by Victor DeLorenzo. I expected to never
get the chance to hear this song until i saw the tape in a thrift store
for 50 cents.

And on this subject of rare tunes, I have an idea for a new thread:
What VF songs have you never heard? I’m talking rarities that you know
exist, but can’t find ANYWhere. For example: I know the Femmes have a
tune called Peter Jest that was on one of those impossible to find
singles, but i don’t think I’ll ever hear it! Or their cover of My Way,
which was/is on a real audio clip on their webpage. Or No More Heroes
(from the Mystery Men soundtrack) which fortunately was on Napster. I
know there are others –
there should be a collection!

“World Without Mercy”, which is at the end of side 1 following “Love &
Me Make Three”. And Candlelight Song is before “Two People” at the end
of side 2, rather than before “I held her in my arms”

What I wouldn’t give to hear “Good Friend” or “Faith” live!

World Without Mercy is the last song on Side One of The Blind Leading
The Naked. It is not on the CD. I too got rid of my tapes, later to
hunt all over for a used one. Found it. Is it worth it? Yes and no. I
like the song a lot, but after being spoiled by CD sound quality
listening to a tape can hurt!
Does anyone know why this song was dropped from the CD? Is it on the
LP?

-Pat. Says: It is not on the American LP, at least not the one I bought
way back when the album was first released. But read on…

The other track is also on the English import CD that I have. It
is a Victor song called “World Without Mercy”, if I recall correctly.
I can look find out for sure when I get home. However, I am about 95%
certain that’s what is called.
