I hope today’s issue is up to par. I’ve had a really bad couple of days.
Both my sons were taken to the hospital Wednesday because they hit head
on and midair on our motocross track. Ethan has a sprained knee and
butterflies on his chin. Austin has a concussion (he was knocked out,
and has no memory of the accident) and a broken hand. We were at the
hospital for 5 hours, during which time both had xrays and Austin had
a cat scan as well. His hand was set last night, with no painkillers at
his request. All that mess WITH protective gear. Without would have been
much worse. So while Austin’s racing season is over, it increases the
chance that we all may be able to go to the Philly show (which
conflicted with a raceday), and Austin has already said he wants the
band to sign his cast.

Morgantown

Hey everyone,
I am going to the Morgantown show. I will travel any distance
to see the Femmes! (Well, it’s only two hours, but still…) Plus I
can never get enough of being elbowed in the head by someone twice my
size, (which always seems to happen to me at Femmes shows no matter
where I’m at in the crowd. Of course being 5’3” doesn’t help at all.)
If I ever meet any of you guys remind me to tell you how Ritchie saved
my life. E-mail doesn’t do the story any justice.

As some of you know (esp. Deana !:>), I’ve been wanting to see this
combo for a long time. . . Which, of course, is where that reference to
the Violent Giants & TMBF tee shirts comes from. Needless to say, I’m
gonna find some way to get to WV… I’m thinking of flying, since
Chicago is pretty far from WV. . . I’ve gotta find a way to get to this
show. . . Seeing as how I don’t want to put up with all the Newport
shows…
Well, I just really wanted to blab on about my excitement about this
show. . .
But, I do have a comment for Pat:
I’ve had serious audio problems with the page as well. Especially since
their Shockwave link always makes my Netscape crash. Is there anyway to
fix this problem? I’ve also found the live taping under the SOUNDS
section, but I can’t get to that either. . . ANy suggestions? Does
anyone know the SHOCKWAVE site addy so I can just download it myself?

I was reading a web based message/disscussion board the other day for
Chris Isaak, and I thought to myself “wait a second, I could set up one
of these for the Femmes.” So I did. There is now a web browser based
discussion/message board at

for the Violent Femmes. I always wondered why there wasn’t a newsgroup
for the femmes, so I thought this might be like having one.

I believe someone said that you can get Freak Magnet as an import for
$31??

DO NOT SPEND $31 on this album, it is not worth it. Definitly spend
$12 when or if it comes out, but no more than that. OR have someone
who has it copy it for you. Send me all the hate mail you wish

I still LOVE the femmes and their music but lets just say that after
hearing this album I know why they haven’t been picked up yet. They do
not have a good product to sell. ONLY EXISTING FANS WILL LIKE THE
ALBUM IT WILL ATTRACT NO NEW FANS AND NO HIT SINGLES>

Operation Ivy rule so much!!!! I recently got into them and bought the
major CD…. I checked out “Hoboken” and I can *sort of* see how you
thought that it sounds like rejoice…. but just SORTOF. but you’ve
got a good imagination. :). its an awesome song, I love the whole CD.
Anybody who likes punk, check out Operation Ivy. For those who dont
know, they’re from the mid 80’s and are one of the original straight
edge punk/ska bands… its incredible

I was driving back from Florida Sunday night (so I was riding, my bro
was driving) and we were flipping stations. I heard the familiar line
of “it’s a crying shame”. I told my brother to flip back a station and
I was able to sing along to the lyrics sung by some guy whose voice I’d
never heard before a day in my life. Lyrics happened to be from Gone
Daddy Gone and were “tell by the way you that you switch and walk I can
see by the way that you baby talk I can know by the way you treat your
man I can love you baby til it’s a cryin” (the very last part might not
of been sung but I don’t remember exactly) I expected the next part to
follow that of gone daddy gone but it turned out to be some song I’ve
never ever heard before.
Weird or what? Anyone have any idea what song that possibly could have
been of or if the Femmes ganked that part of the song? That plagued me
for the rest of the ride home….

CALLING ALL THE FREAKS ON THE FREAK FREAK PLANET……..

Hey all you San Francisco Bay area planet dwellers. I will be coming up
there from So. Cal for the month of August to work, and need a place to
stay. Do you know of anyone subletting for the month, or anyone going on
vaca needing a housesitter? I know I may be asking for alot from the
not-so-dog-friendly Bay area, but I would like to bring my 2 canine
friends with me. I will be working near Geary & Divisidero & would like
somewhere in the Richmond or in Chris Isaac town, the Sunset. I found a
dogs-ok place called Ocean Park Motel on 2690 46th Ave. near the
zoo-anyone know of this place? My time there may run into the VF show(s)
in Sept. too if anyone wants to meet up there! Thanks for obliging me.
