Milwaukee, Part 1

oh my. i just got back from summerfest…. milwaukee… seeing the
femmes for the fourth time…. it ruled…
im going to keep this brief, i’m tired, gonna go to bed.

the femmes were really cool, almost as cool as at chocolate fest!
i was really suprised, they played lots of songs i’ve never heard live
before (hey nonny nonny, its gonna rain, never tell, i held her in my
arms, etc) and skipped some standards (county death song, out the
window, etc.) which was cool.

thats about all im gonna say right now, im going to bed…. it was
really cool though, i’m impressed. maybe i’ll write more tomorrow.

Milwaukee, Part 2

alrighty, i’m awake now. time for more coverage on last nights
summerfest show.

the stage was the outdoor ‘miller oasis’ so all the bands of the day
were pretty much plugging miller beer… its a big paved field with a
10 foot open space at the front, then rows of benches for a while, then
picnic tables in the way back… i was standing on the first bench, my
view was PERFecT, even though i did fall off a couple times cause of the
moshers…

they opened with please do not go…

songs that i can remember (not perfect order)

please do not go, im nothin, hey nonny nonny, prove my love, it’s gonna
rain, waitin for the bus, reggie white, bits, 26-24-26, american music,
good feeling (with somebody from the bodeans singing backup), bad, dance
mf dance, freak magnet, old mother reagan, never tell, i held her in my
arms, black girls, confessions, gimme the car, gone daddy gone, add it
up. encore: kiss off

i probably forgot a couple, but thats pretty much it.. it was
incredible.

gordon was in a really funny mood… he kept rambling on and on about
shakespeare during ‘hey nonny nonny’ and was like “well you guys dont
know nothin about that” and then tried to some call and response thing..
which turned out cool. he was funny though, he kept giving the crowd
the finger too, and during the never ending blackgirls horn solos he was
just dancing around on the side of the stage…

it was cool, guy hoffman actually talked a lot, i’ve never seen him do
that before.

only two miniscule complaints.,.. whoever was mixing the show was
really bad!! sometimes the voice was WAY to loud, sometimes the bass
WAY to loud, and sometimes and horns WAY to loud when compared to the
other instruments… also the crowd was overall very cool during the
show but kind of got pissed off during the never ending horn solos
(black
girls and confessions).. i guess they wanted more action… well
anyways
overall, it was incredible..

ok, great

>Just a little bit of info. The “EEP OPP ORK AH-AH” song that was in
>the Jetsons was not done by the Femmes. It was sung by Ralph Sall and

ya i didn’t think the femmes were fifty billion and two years
old….but they are getting there….and i hate the overproduced guitar
sound on the song freak magnet….(it eats a dick) i hope
this folk festival stuff sparks ideas for an acoustic album…

Sean Lennon

Ok, first off, nobody start like virtually kicking my ass for what i’m
about to write, and nobody email me bitching at me because i have a
difference of opinion from them, because everyone is entitled to their
own opinion (mine’s just the right one! j/k)

i’m pretty sure someone said that sean lennon said he loved the femmes,
and im not sure on this one, but i also thought someone said he said
they were a major influence on him. personally i hope that I am SO WRONG
that someone said that, because I saw the music video for some song of
his (first time i’ve ever heard his music) and he SUCKS! as a femmes
fan, i find it personally insulting that he tries to say that the femmes
could in any way have influenced such shitty music. i mean yuck! hmm..
yea now im done.
