Okay, I know I just started running this list but I will be on a trip for about a week starting Thursday the 13th, so there will be no digests during that week. Sorry about that, but after that I should be able to get it out almost every day during the summer. If enough people respond to this digest right away I’ll be able to put out another one before I leave. Keep sending me all your posts and whatever else you want me to read and suggestions too.

I would also like to say that I am automatically going to unsubscribe anybody whose name comes back as “deliverable” I have already received quite a few, so If you are canceling your internet account, please tell me so I can unsubscribe you. Those very long “deliverable” messages are really annoying.

Subject: Y-100 Summer Shindig ][ – Femmes Headlined

I saw the Violent Femmes, finally!!!, for the first time at the second annual
y-100 summer shindig in Philadelphia. It was a small venue at the Mann Music
Center. The femmes played last and I had to sit through a bunch other bands
including Solution AD, Dog’s eye view, The bodeans, Jewel, and Lenny Kravitz.
But, it was definitely worth it. The femmes made the show, they were just plain
amazing. The whole place just erupted when they came on. It was just everyone
groovin.. it was great, I was in heaven! I’d give you a set list.. but for the
life of me, I can’t remember exactly cause I was having way too much fun. But
they did play color me once which was nice. They also played Dahmer is dead
and of course all their regulars.. and of course they came back out for Add it
Up after they left.. The crowd was nuts. I hope that the people at the Mann
were able to show the femmes that they are appreciated here in Philly. Cause
if I remember correctly their 4/19 concert at the U of PA kinda blew.

I have I problem, I loooooove the FEMMES and I really want to get to
one of their shows. I’m from the northern Jersey/ NYC area so if anyone has
any info and knows if their touring around here could ya let me know? (It
doesn’t even have to be close by, I’m willing to travel!) And to all you
lucky lucky people who are going to summerfest we all expect a full report of
the madness. Have fun and say hi to Gordon for me!

I heard that too when I was flipping through the stations. It sucked cos’ I

Over the last few days I’ve realized a lot about their music and stuff. Me
and my friends are all punk rockers, we listen to the Dead Kennedys, Sex
Pistols, etc. but I’m the only one who likes the Violent Femmes. I consider
them a punk band, but of a very different style. I refer it to “Acoustic
Punk.” When I play them for my friends they are like “what the hell is this”
and i realized that it takes a certain personality for their music to appeal
to you. I really had no motivation to write this, except that i’m bored
off my ass.

Hi Kids
I have been reading ROCK!!!!! for a few months now and I have a few questions:
1. It seems that nobody on the east cost likes the Violent Femmes. Is this
true?

2. And if so is that why I have never seen them in concert or am I just not
looking hard enough?

3. I love every one of the Violent Femmes tunes but is it just me who
thinks that DANCE MOTHER FUCKER DANCE is the most moronic song ever written?
Please someone explain this strange phenomenon with me.
