I’m back…where’s everybody else? Where are the thoughts about and
impressions of Freak Magnet? Where are the concert reviews?
HEY JEZ! Send us a review! Write it sober! 🙂
I am dedicating this issue to Alexandre…Thanks for the posts.

Brussels Concert Review
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hi all,
The VF concert yesterday (in Brussels, Belgium) was very nice, better
than in Dublin in November and specially than in Paris last May.
They seemed to be really happy and glad to play in front of us.
They played a lot of songs but only five from Freak Magnet, it seems
that they did the promotion of Viva Wisconsin. Strangely, the VF CD
they sold there were more expensive than in traditional shops.
The opening band (Hefner) was English and nice, I bought their CDs.
Play list (not in exact order and if my memory is correct):
Rejoice and be happy
Nothing
Country dead song
Don’t talk about my music
Gone daddy gone
Out of the window
Blister in the sun
Life in an adventure
Jesus walking on the water
Prove my love
Freak magnet
I swear it (I can change)
Old mother Reagan
American music
Damher in dead
Black girls
Sleepwalking
Kiss off
I held her in my arms
Color me once
In the dark
Holliwood is high
encore:
A Story
Add It Up
Enjoy,
Alexandre
Finally
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Well, after all the frustration of the band postponing their shows here
in Boston and Providence last month, it looks like they will finally be
here next month.
I have already received tickets for both of these shows and just wanted
to say hi to Ron and see ya in Providence. I’ll be there!!!
Glad to hear you’re back up and running Pat! I know how frustrating
computers can be!

Glastonbury Festival 2000
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
There is some sort of music festival in Glastonbury (UK?) and they are
having a vote to see who gets to play there. I figure if we all vote
for the Femmes they might win. The highest vote right now only has
356. How many of us are on this list, Pat? Anyway, here is the link:
http://www.glastonbury-festival.co.uk/images/website1b.jpg
Go down to the bottom and type the Violent Femmes in the ‘add your
own choice here’ section.
I don’t know where Glastonbury is and I won’t be able to go, but I’d
still like the Femmes to be there… so go vote!!!
Lefty Gano?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hey, go to this interview with Gordon from Emusic.com
(http://www.emusic.com/features/violent_femmes/index.html) and scroll
down.
In the picture, Gordon’s playing guitar left-handed. I didn’t think
he was a lefty…

P.S. oh, and you can now purchase mp3’s of Viva Wisconsin and Freak
Magnet from emusic.com for .99 per song or $9.99 for each full album.

Question about Freak Magnet
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I’m kind of confused about the release date of Freak Magnet. I’ve
actually had this CD for over two months now. I was at a used CD store
in Santa Monica, where one of the people working there was putting CD’s
out. I was about to leave the store when I noticed the words “Violent
Femmes” on the cover of a CD that didn’t look like any of the ones I
had already (and I have all their albums). So he handed it to me, and
I realized it was Freak Magnet. At the time, I thought it was weird
that no one on this mailing list mentioned it, and now it makes sense
since I guess it just came out. It’s just odd that it was already at a
used CD store two months ago. Oh well. I love this CD. It’s one of
my favorites of theirs now. The last song, “A Story,” is hilarious
IMHO!
P.S. I’m REALLY excited they’re coming to LA in May!
-Pat. Says: If you bought this CD in a used store a couple of months
ago, you either bought an import or a promo. If it is an
import, the label is CookingVinyl. If a promo, it’ll be
Beyond Records. The label was released in Europe a couple
of months ago.
