Okay – it’s a Femmes conspiracy!! Ohio Northern University? What is
up with these people?!?!?! I mean do we Femmes fans have such a
terrible reputation that they are afraid to release concert
information?!?!? Like Nevin, Pat and several other people who’ve tried
– I have made several attempts to get ticket info on the March 27th
show – unsuccesfully!!! I’ve talked to 3 dept heads, the dean of
residence life AND the “Public Information Director.” I’ve never had
this much trouble getting info about a show! Do not fear though!! I
finally resorted to looking up the numbers for some local record shops
and found one nice person who’s going to get the info for me! Yay!
I’m going to check back with him on Monday and I’ll let everyone know.

PS – The one & only person at ONU who actually would even talk to me
about the show said she couldn’t confirm anything but IF the Femmes
were playing there the tickets would go on sale to students first & IF
there was a concert it would be reserved seating & – most important –
IF there is a concert it would be open to non-students as well.

i don’t know if it’s just me, but this kind of problem seems to happen
a lot for shows at colleges… hmmm…
i think maybe they subscribe to the odd theory that if they wait longer
and, possibly, build up suspense as to who is playing, more of a demand
for tickets will be created and they’ll have a rush on them when they
go on sale.
or, and i know this is true because i just dealt with it myself for a
concert by a different band, a lot of times the shows are sponsored by
college radio stations. and they seem to have a tough time getting
things planned ahead of time… plus they like to give away tickets
through promotions before the public can by them… it increases their
listening share.

Ok – here’s the deal with the comp. I finished loading all the clips
into my computer at home but when I went to actually copy the stuff to
tape to make all of the originals about many of the pieces came out
extremely “jumpy.” After many hours working with it and then several
calls to the software manufacturer we have concluded that some of the
clips I have that are multiplt generation copies just aren’t going to
be usable through the software. Soooo… I’m going to have to record
what I can from the computer and then hand-edit the others in where
they belong. Yay, fun!

hello fellow femmesies,
just got back from vacation trip to st louis and was quite pleased to
find the import 12″s of ‘It’s gonna rain’ and ‘Children of the
Revolution’ while i was there, both in mint condition (thanks to the
stupid f*ck who was willing to part with them for beer money or
whatever) I also found a slash records compilation import with ‘faith’
and ‘gimme the car’ which i quickly grabbed. There was also a copy of
the 12″ of ‘Gone Daddy Gone’ there with the same cover as the first
album but with a purplish tint to it for about $5 but i decided that
since i already have a copy of it i shouldn’t be a greedy one and
instead left it for another femme-o-natic to find. If you are in the
mood to go pick it up, you will find it at “Vintage Vinyl” in St.
Louis. I went there after I saw a bumper sticker advertising the
place. I cannot recall the address so you’ll just have to look it up
in the phone book as i did. Don’t forget to include me in the list for
people who want the videotape compilation!! In fact i want two so i
can pass one along to a fellow femmenite that will just love me for
getting her one…. all you lucky people that are getting to go see
the femmes live make sure to wave at gord-o for me while your there and
tell him to get down to texas!!

If you could have one (and only one) Violent Femmes-related dream come
true, that dream would be to:
a) perform with them onstage or on an album.
b) design an album or t-shirt.
c) produce a video.
d) write a song for the band to record.
e) hold MTV execs hostage until they agree to play VF videos nonstop
for a 24 hour period.
f) have sex with…(fill in the blank).
g) do nothing but travel around the world, following the band on tour
for one year.
h) have the band visit your house so all your friends can see how
cool you are.
i) be their agent/manager. Maybe then an album would be released.
j) own every VF bootleg tape and video ever made.
Me? I’d pick g. I love to travel, but don’t do enough of it. Plus, if
I could travel for a full year, that would mean that I had enough
money to live the lifestyle to which I would like to become accustomed.

us what else she meant to say. At any rate, Wilde is one
of my favorites. So the question is, has anyone besides

Favorite Solo Effort
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Of all the solo efforts past and present band members have released
(including Guy in Absinthe and BoDeans), which is your favorite? I’m
partial to Brian’s Sonic Temple and the Court of Babylon and Gordon’s
the Mercy Seat, but I really loved the BoDeans Love & Hope & Sex &
Dreams when it first came out. I own nothing by Victor, because I think
his voice is very weak. I couldn’t imagine having to listen to a whole
album of it.

DENNIS RODMAN JOINS THE VIOLENT FEMMES?
(AP) Los Angeles- Today, Dennis Rodman, LA Lakers most eccentric
personality, has made the surprising announcement that he is leaving
basketball in hopes of joining the popular rock group the Violent
Femmes. “I had so much fun with them at the Chicago New Year’s Eve
concert two years ago that basketball seemed so lame in comparison.
Besides, I already have cool clothes, what else do I need? My one hope
in life is that they will agree to have me.” When asked what he
intended to do in the band, Dennis replied “I’m going to Dance, Mother-
Fucker! Dance!”
