American Holiday
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Boy, you can sure tell last weekend was a holiday here in the US. Over
the weekend I got three posts: one letter and two quotes. I decided that
was not enough to put out an issue on Monday. Today isn’t much better,
but if I don’t send SOMETHING you’ll all forget about me. So here is a
very very short issue.
New Acquisitions
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Just thought I’d let you all know some things that arrived in the mail
yesterday. First, I got the promo single CD American Music, for which I
placed a high bid at Ebay. The only problem with it is that the cover
is missing, so if any kind soul out there has this single, and can scan
a CD-sized picture of it, I’d appreciate it. Secondly, I bought the
following from RoundFlat Records (http://www.roundflat.com or
http://www.rockfetish.com/roundflat):
Brian Ritchie CD Single: Sun Ra-Man From Outer Space (also has Parade
and Christian for One Day)
Brian Ritchie CD Single: Nuclear War (also has Alphabet)
Brian Ritchie 12″ 45: Nuclear War (also has Alphabet)
Brian Ritchie 12″ 45: Nuclear War and Atomkrieg
Brian Ritchie Full length vinyl: The Blend
Brian Ritchie Full length vinyl: Sonic Temple and the Court of Babylon

So in one fell swoop I think I got MOST of BR’s solo stuff. I’ll get
the rest when I can. James, since you’re running the Unofficial Homepage
now, you might want to add the Roundflat Records URL to the list of
places to get VF stuff. They have a huge selection of music, and their
prices can’t be beat. The only complaint I have is that they say to
expect a 2-6 week delivery. It took the entire 6 weeks, even though
they told me three weeks ago, on a Friday, that they would be sending
it out the following Monday. Just beware of the wait, and try to be
patient.
I didn’t get much of a chance to listen to these yet; I am in great
need of a new needle on my turntable, and I’d hate to use the old one
on a new album. Once I get the needle, I’ll play them just once, to
tape them.

Machine..Tour South Africa
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hi Pat and all you femme fans 🙂
I am sitting at work listening to “I got a machine”.
I was given “New Times” for Valintines day. (Well the guy earned
his kiss for such a great album }:->)
I think that this is a very appropriate song for me ‘cos I work
for an ISP in South Africa, and some times I really feel that the
internet and all its machines will take over the world …… Will it
make any difference? Some times I think so and some times I think not.
My question is: Have The Femmes thought about doing a tour of
South Africa? With the fall of apartheid it is easy for bands to come
through. And boy do they have a following in this country.
More than one of my friends got to grips with our old
educational systems (with their controls, rules and regulations),
listening to these guys and thinking what they are actually saying.
Bye all
Aileen
aka:
-Pat. Says: A reading of the email section of the Official Homepage
revealed the VF should be touring the world following the
imminent release of their new album. Just don’t ask me when
that will be, because I really can’t say.
I can’t think of a single reason why they wouldn’t play
South Africa. All they need is the invite. So get your
friends together and find a venue that can be convinced of
the profit of booking them.
Official Sheet Music?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I know there is tab music on the unofficial and on OLGA, but does anyone
know if “official” sheet music or tab collections are available for
purchase? Or does anyone have there own personal collection?

-Mike
