Milwaukee Talks Interview

——————————————————————————–

Thank you Milwaukee! Over $30,000 was raised to help the tsunami victims of Sri Lanka at Friday’s concert. Sam Llanas and his band kicked ass and VF had a lot of fun. All of the proceeds will go directly to Sri Lanka to help the rebuilding effort.

We would like to thank all of the sponsors and volunteers who made it happen. And foremost we would like to thank all 999 of you who attended the concert and bought tickets and posters. Many made generous donations on top of the ticket price. You were a great audience and made it a magical and memorable night for everybody on stage.

If you were not able to attend for whatever reason, and if you have not already done so, please consider making a contribution either to Sarvodaya (charity associated with this concert) or any of the other worthy charities working in the region.

See you at Summerfest!

Hello all,

We’re a UK based independent record label (www.huxrecords.com)
We plan to release an album of a Violent Femmes live show which was recorded by the BBC in 1991 at The Town & Country Club in London. We’d like to get hold of a ticket, flyer or any memorabilia from this show, for inclusion in the CD booklet if possible.
Can anyone help?

Thank you.
Brian (at Hux Records)

Milwaukee Talks: Brian Ritchie
By Andy Tarnoff
The Violent Femmes’ Brian Ritchie is one of a handful of Milwaukeeans whose music is internationally known, but he still can fly just under the radar in his hometown. We caught up with Ritchie and his wife in this latest Milwaukee Talks to chat about his career, the Femmes and his willingness to help raise money for a good cause. We sat down at his apartment in the Shorecrest Hotel, which, Ritchie points out is, much like his occasional bandmate and neighbor Sigmund Snopek’s pad, “but smells much better.”
